On Wednesday, April 25, 2012 The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center hosted its 5th Annual Spring Ball at The Temple of Dendur in The Sackler Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This incredible evening is The Society’s signature annual event which featured cocktails, dinner and dancing, as well as a live performance by Grammy Award Winner, Rob Thomas, who sang his signature hits Her Diamonds, 3 A.M., Fall On Me, and his first single Lonely No More. The event was Co-Chaired by Tory Burch, Jamie Tisch, Caryn Zucker and Muffie Potter Aston and was generously sponsored by Gucci.
With 400 guests in attendance, Dr. Annette Rickel, President of The Society, welcomed the high-profile crowd of The Society’s members and leaders in business, fashion, music and philanthropy. The Temple of Dendur in The Sackler Wing was transformed into a breathtaking stage surrounded by hundreds of glimmering candles.
This backdrop set the stage for a poignant evening where MSKCC’s Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, Dr. Richard O’Reilly, introduced The Society’s newest initiative: Gene Targeted Cell Therapy Program for Pediatric Resistant Leukemia. Sotheby’s Auctioneer and MSKCC Board Member Jamie Niven lead a pledge to raise critical funding for research. Overall, this grand affair raised more than $1.8 million to benefit The Society’s comprehensive patient care, research, and education programs.
Guests hit the dance floor to music by DJ D-Nice late into the night.
