It's true mate. I once asked a teacher in Sunday School why the Hebrews wrote down the content of their communications with God in the Old Testament, and then the founders of Christianity wrote down their messages from the divine in the New Testament, but then suddenly it all stopped about 1700 years ago. God stopped communicating with his people? What's up with that?
Many years later I realized people have continued to write down what they believe to be messages they receive from God, but these writings get classed as "New Age Channeling Literature" and generally aren't taken very seriously.
That's not to say all channeling books are valid. Just to say that Jesus and the Apostles were as you say – in many ways, like the New Agers of today.
