Protests inspired by the revolt in Tunisia have spread to Egypt, Yemen and Algeria with citizens calling for governmental change. Authors Webster Tarpley and William Engdahl argue that uprisings in Egypt and elsewhere in the Middle East are orchestrated by the CIA, MI6 and NGO's like Freedom House.

What is the motive? Mubarak is not dependent enough on the US-NATO-IMF. Will CIA-MI6 succeed and what can they achieve? Can the demonstrators win with the Internet turned off? The army is behind Mubarak, an ex-fighter pilot. What if the US cuts off crucial wheat supplies to Egypt? And what might replace Mubarak – another dictator, or the Muslim Brotherhood? The US-sponsored Green Revolutions failed in Iran and Lebanon…
But don't the protestors have real grievances? Yes. The color revolution modus operandi is to channel those aspirations for purposes of empire. Color revolutions, but they are based on the world economic depression – jobless, rising food and fuel prices, etc. The CIA wants to use the youth bulge to destroy all the nation states of the MIddle East.
