Nunes: Parler Ban a ‘Violation of Antitrust, Civil Rights, the RICO Statute — ‘There Should Be a Racketeering Investigation’

During this week’s broadcast of FNC’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, called on the Department of Justice to launch an investigation into tech companies’ efforts to remove Parler as a platform from the internet.

The California Republican cited violations of antitrust laws, civil rights and the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

“Well, Maria, when I wrote that book, I was hoping to warn Americans so that they would vote right and that maybe this wouldn’t happen and this could be prevented,” he said. “Unfortunately, it’s far worse than what I could even imagine. The effect of this is that there is no longer a free and open social media company or site for any American to get on any longer, because these big companies, Apple, Amazon, Google, they have just destroyed a — what was likely — Parler is likely a billion-dollar company. Poof, it’s gone. But it’s more than just the financial aspect to that. Republicans have no way to communicate. If — and it doesn’t even matter if you’re a Republican or conservative.”

“If you don’t want to be regulated by left-wingers that are at Twitter and Facebook and Instagram, where you get shadowbanned, nobody gets to see you — nobody gets to see you, they get to decide what’s violent or not violent, it’s preposterous,” Nunes continued. “So, I don’t know where the hell the Department of Justice is at right now or the FBI. This is clearly a violation of antitrust, civil rights, the RICO statute. There should be a racketeering investigation on all the people that coordinated this attack on not only a company but on all of those like us, like me, like you, Maria. I have 3 million followers on Parler. Tonight, I will no longer be able to communicate with those people. And they’re Americans.”

Joe Biden Vows ‘Thorough Investigation’ into Trump Officials for Border Policy

President-Elect Joe Biden said he will ensure there is a “thorough investigation” by the Justice Department into officials of President Donald Trump’s administration who crafted and carried out the “Zero Tolerance” policy at the United States-Mexico border to deter illegal immigration.

During a press conference on January 8, Biden committed to having the Justice Department open an investigation into Trump officials who carried out the Zero Tolerance policy through which adult border crossers entered separate custody from the children they arrived at the southern border with.

The practice, as Breitbart News noted, has been employed since before 2001, though the Trump administration ended the effort in June 2018.

“I’ll commit that our Justice Department, our investigative arms, will make judgments about who is responsible … and whether or not the conduct is criminal across the board,” Biden said. “But as I said yesterday, I am not going to tell the Justice Department who they should prosecute and who they should not.”

“There will be a thorough, thorough investigation of who is responsible and whether or not their responsibility is criminal, and if that is the [conclusion], the Attorney General will make that judgment,” Biden continued.

The Obama administration, for which Biden served as vice president, often used fencing barriers in Department of Homeland Security (DHS) facilities to house child migrants.

Likewise, Biden hinted at his push to quickly pass an amnesty for the majority of 11 to 22 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. and revoke a number of executive orders issued by Trump to reform the nation’s legal immigration system that admits 1.2 million green card holders every year.

“I will introduce an immigration bill immediately and have it sent to the appropriate committees to begin movement,” Biden said. “I will in fact countermand executive orders that the president has in fact initiated that are contrary to what I think is either his authority and/or even if it’s his authority, contrary to the interests of the United States on environmental issues and a range of other things.”

Critics have said Biden is looking to restart a “Hunger Games” migration policy at the southern border in which border crossers are encouraged to carry out a dangerous, and sometimes deadly, journey through Central America and Mexico in order to make their way to the U.S. and be freed into the interior of the country while awaiting their asylum and immigration hearings.

Biden and his advisers have said they plan to tear down the legal wall that Trump has erected to close loopholes and eliminate fraud for the purpose of reducing illegal immigration.

Peggy Noonan: Trump Deserves ‘Exceptional Dishonor’ of a Second Impeachment

Political commentator and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan declared Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press” that President Donald Trump deserves the “exceptional dishonor” of a second impeachment.

Noonan said, “We are in a crisis. This coming week could not be more consequential, more weighted with history. From everything I hear, there are still active conversations going on in Washington with regard to the 25th Amendment and whether or not the president should be essentially judged to be incapacitated. That is amazing enough. Or, another road, second impeachment. He’s already been impeached once. I would take any of the above because I believe the president should leave. I believe he is a danger.”

She added, “On impeachment, my thoughts are this. First of all, he’s dangerous. He should be impeached because he’s showing every signs that on the way out, he’d like to pull down a few more pillars. We don’t know how he’s spending his days, who’s around him. It doesn’t seem to be a lot of people or a lot of first-rate people and real serious counselors, so there’s that danger. I think he breached the Constitution when his supporters breached the grounds of the Capitol. So, I think there’s just, just straight-out reason to remove him. I think future presidents may need to know what the exact boundaries are for presidential behavior. It wouldn’t be bad to show them this week. I also think, you know, President Trump, at this point, he simply deserves exceptional dishonor, and a second impeachment would be an exceptional dishonor. I hope the Republican party does not miss this moment. They should move forward. I think the impeachment should be bipartisan. It will be the only way for it to be really pretty fully accepted, but understood and respected by history, both parties said, ‘No more.'”

Clyburn Suggests Capitol Rioters May Have Had Inside Intel

House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the Capitol rioters may have had inside information.

Anchor Jake Tapper said, “You said on a Capitol phone call some of the officers may have aided the rioters and were assisting in the attack. Quote, ‘Something untoward was going on here.’ As you stated at the beginning, so many police officers did a valiant job and should be commended. So many were injured. One of them was obviously killed. Removing them from the conversation, what evidence are you talking about?”

Clyburn said, “Well, I am saying that I have an unmarked office that you have got to know exactly where it is. It is where I spend the most of my time doing my work as the majority whip. I have a staff who work very hard who try to keep up with the members who try to make sure they do an effective job managing the votes once they get to the floor, and that office is where I do most of my work. For some reason, these people showed up at that office. But the office where my name is above the door or on the door and my position above the door was not disturbed. So I’m just saying, they didn’t go to where my name was. They went where I usually hang out. That to me indicates that something untoward may have been going on.”

DEA: Mexican Restaurant Owner Used Employees To Push Cocaine

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Seven defendants have been charged with offenses related to a conspiracy to distribute large amounts of cocaine in the Fox Valley in Wisconsin.

According to the criminal complaint, Luis Morales is the owner of several restaurants in the Fox Valley, including Mr. Taco (Appleton, Kimberly, and Hilbert locations) and Savor Food & Spirits.

The investigation revealed that Luis Morales and his co-conspirators distributed numerous kilograms of cocaine in the Appleton, Wisconsin area since June of 2019. On several occasions, Luis Morales arranged for employees of Mr. Taco to distribute and accept payments for large amounts of cocaine at the Mr. Taco (Kimberly) restaurant.

During the takedown on December 2, 2020, over two kilograms of cocaine were seized from Luis Morales’ vehicle and residence.

If convicted, Luis Morales, Eduardo Morales, Sandra Munoz, Frank DiMatteo, and Cory Ulrich face a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison.

Jennifer Almeida-Sandoval and Javier Guzman-Becerra face a mandatory minimum of 5 years and up to 40 years in prison.

“Drug-trafficking organizations harm our communities by maintaining arsenals of weapons and fueling addiction,” said United States Attorney Krueger. “This case underscores the extraordinary cooperation among federal, state, and local law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in Wisconsin.”

“The DEA is committed to working with its local, state and federal law enforcement partners to keep Wisconsin citizens safe from the distribution of illegal drugs and the violence that is always associated with it,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge Robert J. Bell. “This indictment shows the resolve of law enforcement to bring to justice those who profit from drug trafficking.”

“Outstanding work by agents with Wisconsin DOJ’s Division of Criminal Investigation and local and federal law enforcement led to the arrests in this case and seizures of large quantities of narcotics,” said Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul. “This case is a great example of the impact that enforcement efforts focused on large- scale drug trafficking can have.”

The defendants were charged based on a multi-year investigation led by law enforcement agents and officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration – Green Bay Resident Office (DEA-GBRO), the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group – Drug Unit (LWAM), and the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). Several other law enforcement agencies assisted throughout this investigation, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Wisconsin National Guard Counterdrug Program, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Appleton Police Department, the Calumet County District Attorney’s Office, the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office, and the Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Alex Duros and Assistant United States Attorney William Roach are prosecuting the case.
