My own unit uses truck stops as break areas and whatnot, and it just so happens they sell diesel fuel which our vehicles so hungrily need.

So that's a 1/10 on my curiosity counter.

However, as it's been pointed out, they have weapons mounted on their turrets. That is absolutely abnormal stateside, unless this was taken next to a training camp or range.

If this was DC, then yeah my curiosity counter is about 9/10

You have a point about travelling on roads. I'm a GuardAnon but don't have Strykers, however my unit does have other heavy non-tracked combat vehicles (non-HMMWV) that we do take to refuel at civilian gas stations when we aren't near an FMS or a fuel point. I could look it up to be sure, and maybe another anon can correct me, but off the top of my head the Stryker uses JP-8 which they can get at a truck stop. That's why their appearance at a gas station is within the realm of believably normal for me.

However, riding with .50 mounted on turrets is a definite red flag to me. We absolutely NEVER ride weapons showing stateside. I think, to memory, there has only been a single instance I have heard of when we did, but it definitely wasn't cruising around town. It was in a situation where a weapon had to be mounted as a show of force, and even then it wasn't normal.

I withhold my final verdict because, as always, there are situations that require different authorizations and I don't know them all off the top of my head. But… Riding with mounted turrets is definitely a red flag for me.
