the alleged Parler hack does not seem to be a hack at all

In lb notables, someone provided a link to a reddit post that supposedly explains how the alleged 'hack' was done:

>>12464130

>Right now the most compelling “evidence” is an explanation of the actual exploit (not scrape) used by Reddit user “BlueMountainDace” posted to the “ParlerWatch” subreddit. >https://www.reddit.com/user/BlueMountainDace/comments

The precise URL to the post in question is:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ParlerWatch/comments/kuqvs3/all_parler_user_data_is_being_downloaded_as_we/giu04o6/

https://archive.is/YlDxc

That reddit user presents it as if it were "InternetWarriors" hackers, that used super hacking skills to get millions of administrator accounts to steal Parler's data, and even got super secret data.

However, the following URL to the 'hackers' is provided:

https://tracker.archiveteam.org/parler/

https://archive.is/EelfF

So I checked more, and it turns out the archiveteam is a project that scraps PUBLIC information from websites!

link to the archiveteam wiki:

https://archiveteam.org/index.php?title=Main_Page

https://archive.is/9ipny

(see screenshot 1)

They did not 'hack' parler, they are left-wing activists that archive the public data from websites, in order to embarrass people they don't like (right-wing people)!

Here is a list of all the websites they archive offline:

  • Parler

  • .eu domains (brexit related)

  • Endomondo

  • Reddit

  • Github

  • Flash domains

  • classic Google Sites

  • coronavirus related websites

  • mp3.com

  • wikiteam

And then, if you look at what they do for Parler on their wiki, here's what they say:

https://archiveteam.org/index.php?title=Parler

(see screenshot 2)

1) The data archived was public

2) We grabbed as much as we could (I think 85% of it)

3) The Data is not viewable or searchable, its going into the wayback machine and could take weeks to show up there

So there probably even was not a hack at all!

It's just a stupid rumor started on reddit by someone who apparently does not know how to read. Or by someone who purposely pretended not to understand, in order to spread disinfo on Parler.
