Identity Politics as such cannot be eradicated (it is structural to human thought), but it can be co-opted.
The trick is to place dignity and meaning in known ways in which all human beings are already demonstrably alike, yes?
Done properly, this takes the sting out of us/them distinctions (for all competing values of "us" and "them") and clears the way for constructive engagement.
