Antifa Bullies Book Store Into Removing Andy Ngo’s Book; Still Sells 60+ Versions of Mein Kampf

Iconic Portland book store Powell’s Books has now become the focal point of the antifa terrorists, as the thugs showed up to protest the store for carrying Andy Ngo’s book. Somehow the book store is now all of a sudden of a hub of evil fascists.

That’s right, not even the long-time book store is immune from antifa’s rage. Powell’s has been an integral part of the Portland community for several decades.

Willamette Week reports:

Responding to customer outcry, Powell’s Books announced Monday it would not carry in its stores a book by the conservative pundit Andy Ngo critical of Portland anti-fascists, but would continue to sell it online.

His book, Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan to Destroy Democracy, will be published by Hachette on Feb. 21. Over the weekend, local activists launched an online campaign demanding Powell’s drop the book.

Powell’s responded that it had not hand-selected the book, but copies had been automatically supplied by Hachette, the publisher. The bookseller said it would not promote the book, or place it on store shelves.

That answer satisfied few. Several dozen people protested outside the front doors of Powell’s City of Books on West Burnside Street on Monday afternoon, blocking the front doors, and pledged to return Tuesday morning. Others criticized Powell’s for bowing to pressure about which books it would stock.

In response to an inquiry from WW, Ngo said he was disappointed.

“Given that Powell’s dedicates part of every year to banned and censored books, it’s a shame they’ve made the decision to restrict in-store sales of a book by a local author weeks ahead of release,” he said. “However, I also have sympathy for them given how ruthless Antifa have been in vandalizing and hurting local businesses.”

KOIN 6 reports that they ended up closing the store for the day and ushered customers out another exit.

But that isn’t enough for the maniacal communists, who are still upset, because reasons!

Ironically, Powell’s holds an annual “Banned Books Week” where they celebrate works that had previously been deemed by the mainstream to be too controversial.

House Republicans To Call For Trump's Censure To Avoid Democrats' Rushed Impeachment "Damaging Our Democracy"

In seeking his removal for "incitement," legal scholar and Constitutional expert Jonathan Turley warned earlier that Democrats would gut not only the impeachment standard but free speech, all in a mad rush to remove President Trump just days before the end of his term.

Turley noted specifically that "Congress is about to seek the impeachment of a president for a speech that is protected under the First Amendment. It would create precedent for the impeachment of any president who can be blamed for the violent acts of others after the use of reckless or inflammatory language."

Nevertheless, on the heels of Vice President Pence's confirmation this evening that he "pledges to work with Trump through the end of his term" thus confirming earlier reports that he would not acquiesce to Speaker Pelosi's demands that he invoke the 25th Amendment; it appears House Democrats are raring to go on an impeachment vote on Wednesday.

As Turley noted further on Fox News this evening, while remarking on the Democrats' apparent rush to get this done:

"They are suggesting impeaching a president over a speech that many of us called reckless. But it’s a type of vicarious impeachment in the sense that he doesn’t call for violence in his speech. He in fact tells his followers to be peaceful, he says the reason they should go to the Capitol is to support members who are challenging the election. And to encourage other members to join them.

So the speech itself would not meet any definition, as a criminal matter, of incitement."

Which brings us to an interesting potential pivot by House GOP members that was elaborated by Republican New York State Congressman Tom Reed, who wrote in a New York Times op-ed:

"If we make the wrong decision in holding the president accountable, it could damage our democracy," somewhat echoing Turley's warnings.

But Reed, while condemning the president's speech, has an option that while unpleasant, is not as draconian as the Democrats blood-baying needs.

Reed begins by noting that this in no way reduces the wrongdoing:

"All responsible parties, including President Trump, must face justice."

And, again echoing Turley's Constitution-based warnings, Reed states that:

"while the president’s words were unwise, intemperate and wrong, they may not qualify as incitement. And an impeachment on the grounds that they do will inevitably erode the norms around what may be considered constitutionally protected speech."

Reed goes on to note that a full impeachment hearing would delay much-neede efforts to tackle the nation's COVID-19 crisis and furthermore would stymie any efforts at unity in a nation that is tearing itself apart.

"We cannot give credibility to the belief that Washington chooses to hold people accountable only for mere political advantage, especially to the detriment of the Constitution."

And so Reed offers an alternative.

"I implore our congressional leaders and Mr. Biden to take a moment to consider what is at stake. Work with us on constitutionally viable alternatives to ensure that no individual is above the law.

Such options include censure…

…I intend to join with my House colleagues in the introduction of a censure resolution Tuesday to ensure accountability occurs without delay for the events of Jan. 6. We must also look at alternatives that could allow Congress to bar Mr. Trump from holding federal office in the future."

In the case of censure, this would be the first for a President since the Senate censured Andrew Jackson in 1834, and the offer of barring him from office likely meets the real desires of Democrats to ouster Trump from a run in 2024.

Call it a "quid pro quo".

Reed concludes:

"We cannot and should not support a rushed, divisive action simply because the emotions of the moment demand it. That is not the American way."

"The American Way" eh? Due process… innocent until proven guilty? We can only imagine "the squad's" response to this 'offer' from the GOP.

The question is - will Pelosi fold to it? This is her last term after all and she must know, as Turley warned, this rushed impeachment would tarnish her legacy just as much as she hopes to tarnish Trump's.

America’s Third Largest Radio Group Bans Dissent, Threatens to Fire Conservative Talkers Who Question Election Results

Cumulus Media says the election "has been resolved" and no more questions are allowed.

Cumulus Media, America’s third largest owner of AM and FM radio stations, is threatening to fire show hosts who question the results of the 2020 Presidential Election on air.

Cumulus, whose stations are home to household names such as Mark Levin, Chris Plante, and Dan Bongino, reaches over a quarter of a billion listeners every month, with programming broadcast through 416 company-owned-and-operated stations, as well as an additional nearly 8,000 affiliates through Westwood One, a subsidiary of Cumulus.

“We need to help induce calm NOW,” wrote Brian Phillips, Vice President of Content in an internal memo, issued last Wednesday.

Cumulus and Westwood One “will not tolerate any suggestion that the election has not ended,” Phillips continued, as the “election has been resolved and there are no alternate acceptable paths.”

“If you transgress this policy, you can expect to separate from the company.”

Cumulus’ new guidelines appear to be in step with a seemingly countless number of other media corporations nationwide, who have long been accused of quashing dissent through intimidation and retribution as well as outright censorship.

Like Cumulus, in the wake of last Wednesday’s Capitol Hill protests against the certification of contested electoral votes, social media networks have raced to censor conservative voices. In addition to the banning of President Trump from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, thousands of other political figures and private citizens have been booted from the sites.

Even social media networks themselves haven’t been safe from the censors. Parler, the free speech app partially owned by Dan Bongino and heavily promoted by Mark Levin – both Cumulus hosts – has gone offline after their web services were discontinued by Amazon, in retribution for the site’s free speech stance.

Moderna says COVID-19 vaccine immunity to stay at least a year

Immunity from Moderna Inc’s COVID-19 vaccine should last at least a year, the company said on Monday at the J.P. Morgan Healthcare conference.

The drugmaker said it was confident that the messenger RNA (mRNA) technology it used was well suited to deploy a vaccine based on the new variant of the coronavirus which has emerged in a handful of countries.

The company’s vaccine, mRNA-1273, uses synthetic mRNA to mimic the surface of the coronavirus and teach the immune system to recognize and neutralize it.

Moderna said in December it would run tests to confirm the vaccine’s activity against any strain.

The company said on Monday it expects to deliver between 600 million doses and 1 billion does of its vaccine in 2021 and forecast vaccine-related sales of $11.7 billion for the year, based on advance purchase agreements signed with governments.

“The team feels very comfortable with the track record we have now … that we are on track to deliver at least 600 million doses,” Chief Executive Officer Stéphane Bancel said.
