The first Greek actors wore masks to play their roles in their divine tragedy/comedy.
Those masks covered the face completely except for the mouth which served as a sort of megaphone.
The masks were believed to be sacred,
evoking the deity or spirit being depicted to inhabit the actor.
The words coming from the holes in those masks were believed to be the gods' actual voices.
Acting is a very old religion……..
This is why actors do the red carpet walk.
They are showing they are vessels for their gods (false of course),
and thus they are human gods.
