Duplin County Schools move to 100 percent, remote instruction

DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Duplin County Schools will be moving to all-remote learning when students return from break.

The school district says the change is due to the increasing COVID-19 positivity rates on national, state, and local levels, and after consultation with the Duplin County Health Department.

The change is effective for all students from Jan. 6, 2021, until Jan. 18, 2021.

Meals will be distributed during this time, and all staff should report to work according to the current calendar.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) -The Pitt County Board of Education voted Monday night to move classes online for two weeks.

The vote was 7-2 and the change takes effect immediately.

The change comes less than a week after the board voted to have classes for the spring semester resume in person.

The decision was made after a suggestion from Pitt County Superintendent, Dr. Ethan Lenker.

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Ridgewood Elementary in Winterville is joining Eastern Elementary in Greenville in closing for in-person learning through January 15.

Pitt County Schools announced that a COVID-19 case and the related quarantines will make it difficult to safely and effectively operate the school.

PCS says it will notify parents of any furhter changes this week.
