Secretary of State Michael Pompeo on Censorship: Time to ‘Put Wokeism to Sleep’

Secretary of State Michael Pompeo on Monday criticized censorship by media and Big Tech, calling for “wokeism” to be put to sleep, during a speech he gave at a Voice of America-hosted event.

In his opening remarks, Pompeo noted that some employees of VOA, a U.S. government-funded international news service, did not want him to speak at the event and called that “censorial instinct” dangerous.

“I read that some VOA employees didn’t want me to speak here today. I’m sure it was only a handful. They didn’t want the voice of American diplomacy to be broadcast on the Voice of America. Think about that for just a moment,” he said.

“This kind of censorial instinct is dangerous. It’s morally wrong. Indeed, it’s against your statutory mandate here at VOA. Censorship, wokeness, political correctness. It all points in one direction — authoritarianism cloaked as moral righteousness,” he said.

He then compared it to censorship by Big Tech.

“Similar to what we’re seeing at Twitter and Facebook and Apple and on too many university campuses today. It’s not who we are. It’s not who we are as Americans. And it’s not what the Voice of America should be. It’s time that we simply put woke-ism to sleep,” he said.

Although Pompeo did not explicitly mention it, on Friday Twitter and Facebook moved to permanently ban President Donald Trump from using their platforms. Then, on Saturday, Apple dropped Parler from its store and Amazon dropped Parler from using its hosting service.

Pompeo has defended the president and the administration, while some Trump administration officials have resigned or criticized the president after some of his supporters broke into the Capitol building and engaged in violence.

Democrats and some Republicans are accusing the president of inciting violence at the Capitol and are calling for his resignation, his impeachment, or for his cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Are You Ready For Total (Ideological) War?

So, welcome to 2021! If last week was any indication, it is going to be quite an exciting year. It is going to be the year in which GloboCap reminds everyone who is actually in charge and restores “normality” throughout the world, or at least attempts to restore “normality,” or the “New Normality,” or the “Great Normal Reset,” or “The New Normal War on Domestic Terror” … or whatever they eventually decide to call it.

In any event, whatever they call it, GloboCap is done playing grab-ass. They have had it with all this “populism” malarkey that has been going on for the last four years. Yes, that’s right, the party is over, you Russian-backed white supremacist terrorists! You Trump-loving, anti-mask grandmother killers! You anti-vax, election-fraud-conspiracy theorists! You deviants who refuse to follow orders, wear your damn masks, vote for who they tell you, and believe whatever completely nonsensical official propaganda they pour into your heads!

Oh, yes, you really did it this time! You stormed the goddamned US Capitol. You and your racist, Russia-backed army of bison-hat wearing half-naked actors have meddled with the primal forces of GloboCap, and now, by God, you will atone! No, do not try to minimize your crimes. You entered a building without permission! The building where America simulates democracy! You walked around in there waving silly flags! You went into the Chamber, into people’s offices! One of you actually put his filthy populist feet up on Pelosi’s desk … ON HER DESK! This aggression will not stand!

OK, before I go any further with this essay, I need to explain to my regular readers (in case it wasn’t already clear) that I’ve decided to forswear every word I’ve ever written, and all my principles, and my common sense, and join the remainder of my old leftist and liberal friends in the orgy of online hate and outrage they are currently mindlessly indulging in.

Yes, I realize this comes as a shock, but I have seen the GloboCap writing on the wall, and I don’t want to … you know, get ideologically “cleansed,” or charged with “extremism,” or “insurrectionism,” or “domestic terrorism,” or “populism,” or whatever. I’m already in enough trouble as it is for not playing ball with their “apocalyptic plague,” and whatever else I am, I am certainly no martyr, and I have a career in the arts to consider, so I have decided to listen to my inner coward and join the goose-stepping global-capitalist mob, which is why this column sounds slightly out of character.

See, back in the old days, before my conversion, I would have made fun of my liberal friends for calling this “storming” of the Capitol a “coup,” or an “insurrection,” and for demanding that the protesters be prosecuted as “domestic terrorists.” I probably would have scolded them a bit for taking to the Internet and spewing their hatred at the unarmed woman shot dead by the police like a pack of soulless, totalitarian jackals. I might have even made a reference to that infamous scene in Schindler’s List where the crowd of “normal” German citizens all laugh and jeer as the Jews are marched away to the ghetto by the Nazi goons.

But, now that I have seen the light, I see how bad and wrong that would have been. Clearly, trespassing in the US Capitol is a crime that should be punishable by death. And comparing contemporary American liberals to the “good Germans” during the Nazi era is so outrageous that … well, it should probably be censored. So, good thing I decided not to do that! Plus, the woman was a “devoted conspiracy theorist,” so she got what she deserved, right? (“Play stupid games, win stupid prizes” was the official liberal shibboleth, I believe.)

Business Lobby: Amnesty Is Good for CEOs and Government

An amnesty would generate more taxes for the government and more cheap workers for businesses, according to a pitch from a construction executive and various Koch network activists that sidelines the interests of American employees.

Stan Marek, the owner of Marek Brothers, a Houston-based construction firm that has employed many illegal migrants, is pushing the “ID & Tax Proposal” amnesty:

Let’s face it: those 11 million [illegal migrants] are not sitting on their duff. They’re working somewhere. They may be working under a fake Social [Security Number], they may be working as an independent subcontractor, but they’re working and they’ve got skills. A lot of these workers working in the underground economy, used to work for [construction company] people like me. They were let go because of ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] audits or Social Security No Matches, or insurance audits or whatever, and yet they’re 11 to 12 million people in this country on payrolls sending in about $6 to $7 billion a year of Social Security [payments] that they would never get. These ICE audits have taken millions of people off of payrolls and dumped them into the underground economy where they’re working for cash and not paying taxes.

The fix is “an adult DACA: We know it works because it works for 800,000 people,” said Marek, who has long complained about the No-match letters.

“This is crony capitalism … business partnering with government to increase its profits [by cutting Americans’ wages] while dumping the costs on taxpayers,” responded Mark Krikorian, the director of the Center for Immigration Studies. “By legalizing the illegal immigrants, the benefit to employers is greater because there’s more of the cost of [cheap labor] immigration that taxpayers can be forced to bear.”

Marek’s “DACA” refers to President Barack Obama’s 2012 award of work permits to roughly 800,000 young illegal migrants under the “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” policy. The DACA work-permit giveaway has not been approved by Congress, partly because many millions of Americans are worried about their families’ jobs, income, and health in an increasingly elite-controlled economy. “It’s not amnesty,” Marek wrote in 2014. “It is a sensible program aimed at identifying people and taxing them for working in the United States. That’s the kind of border security we need.”

The corporate demand to hire illegal migrants instead of Americans comes amid a housing boom that could otherwise help pull many sidelined Americans back into jobs and the middle-class. But Marek’s video excludes any talk about Americans’ current or future role in their own nation’s economy.

The children of migrants are “our future workforce,” said Marek, as the video shows migrants working in jobs needed by Americans such as cleaning hotel rooms, driving, construction, and laying bricks. The video also shows many jobs where employers prefer to use cheap migrant labor instead of investing in labor-saving machinery. So the video shows migrants cutting weeds with prehistoric tools, milking cows, picking fruit by hand, and delivering food by bicycle.

Several investor-funded activists echoed Marek’s call for cheap labor in the video.

Deporting illegal migrants would be an economic “tragedy,” said Daniel Griswold, the immigration policy director at the Koch-funded Mercatus Center. “Think of the workplaces that would be disrupted,” he lamented.

Because “95 percent of the undocumented residents in this country are employed, it means that the market can bear it,” said Tony Payan, from the James A. Baker Institute at Rice University. “I think the immigration system in the United States has a huge gap — we don’t have [work] visas for the kinds of workers that our very dynamic economy often needs.”

Payan’s call for endless visa worker inflows echoes the “any willing worker” plan pushed by President George W. Bush — and dodges the question of whether the United States should adopt a two-tier society of citizens exploiting powerless foreign workers.

The video did not mention that companies are free to hire employees away from other companies by offering higher wages and benefits.

Obama, Bush, Clinton to Participate in Joe Biden Inauguration

President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20 will be a public show of bipartisan unity, attended by the three administrations before President Donald Trump.

“This inauguration marks a new chapter for the American people — one of healing, of unifying, of coming together, of an ‘America united,'” Presidential Inaugural Committee’s chief executive officer Tony Allen said of the eponymous inaugural theme.

The ceremony will be attended by former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, as well as former First Ladies Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton. While Vice President Mike Pence is expected to attend, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania will leave the day before for their Florida home. 96-year-old former President Jimmy Carter and his wife are unable to travel due to health concerns and will not be in attendance.

Immediately after being sworn in, Biden, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, and their respective spouses will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery, “honoring our men and women in uniform who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our common values,” as one of their first acts in office.

Biden’s transition team has urged the public not to gather for the inauguration, ensuring a more muted affair in the context of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the administration will install an “extensive public art display” on the National Mall. The display will include thousands of U.S. flags, flags for every state and territory, and 56 pillars of light in similar representation.

“It is time to turn the page on this era of division,” Allen said. “The inaugural activities will reflect our shared values and serve as a reminder that we are stronger together than we are apart, just as our motto ‘e pluribus unum’ reminds us — out of many, one.”

France, Germany, Mexico, Australia Join International Outcry over Censorship of Donald Trump

An international outcry over tech censorship is underway, as political leaders from Mexico to Europe voice their alarm at the unchecked power of Big Tech, following the purge of President Donald Trump by the Big Tech Masters of the Universe

Germany

German chancellor Angela Merkel, whose pro-migration, anti-hate speech policies have little in common with President Trump or his movement, has nonetheless expressed concern at Silicon Valley’s unchecked power.

“The chancellor sees the complete closing down of the account of an elected president as problematic,” said Steffen Seibert, chief spokesman of the German chancellor, at a recent press conference in Berlin.

France

French political leaders also voiced their opposition. The finance minister of France, Bruno Le Maire, condemned what he called a “digital oligarchy,” calling it “one of the threats” to democracy.

“There needs to be public regulation of big online platforms,” said Le Maire.

And Clement Beaune, the French junior minister for European Affairs, told Bloomberg TV that he was “shocked” to see President Trump banned from Twitter, saying “this should be decided by citizens, not by a CEO.”

Mexico

The French and German leaders join president Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico, an avowed socialist, who was the first world leader to condemn Facebook and Twitter for banning president Trump.

“I don’t like anybody being censored or taking away from the right to post a message on Twitter or Face(book). I don’t agree with that, I don’t accept that,” said López Obrador.

The Mexican president said tech companies were behaving like an “inquisition” to “manage public opinion.”

“This is really serious” he added.

The United Kingdom

The Prime Minister of Britain, Boris Johnson, was reportedly alarmed at Silicon Valley censorship even before Trump was permanently removed from Twitter and other platforms.

In November, the Daily Mail quoted a senior government source who said the Prime Minister was considering new laws against tech censorship following Twitter’s censoring of President Trump during the U.S. presidential election.

“Boris did not like what he saw in the US election and has asked for more time to consider how to avoid the same thing happening to him in future,” said the government source, discussing a planned internet regulation bill.

The European Union

Manfred Weber, leader of the largest party group in the European Parliament, said “we cannot leave it to American Big Tech to decide how we can or cannot discuss online,” labeling it a threat to the “consensus building” that is “crucial in free and democratic societies.”

Poland

Poland, run by a populist-nationalist government, has long taken the issue of tech censorship seriously. The Polish government is in the process of passing a law that would fine tech companies millions of euros for censoring content that is legal in Poland.

The law would also create a new Court for the Protection of Freedom of Speech in Poland, where citizens of the country will be able to escalate complaints of tech censorship.

Hungary

The government of Hungary, a resolute enemy of the international cultural left, began an investigation into tech censorship in Europe in 2019. A new anti-censorship social network, Hundub, was recently launched in the country. In the same year, Hungary also fined Facebook for claiming its services are “free.”

Australia

In the Pacific, leaders of the center-right government of Australia including the Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack, and the Treasurer, Josh Fryndenburg, also voiced their opposition to the bans of Trump from social media.

“I’m not in favour of censorship – I think if people don’t like what they see on Twitter – well don’t go onto that social media platform,” McCormack told reporters.

“Freedom of speech is fundamental to our society … those decisions were taken by commercial companies – but personally I felt uncomfortable with what they did,” said Frydenburg.

Child Abuse: Masked schoolchildren are harmed physically, psychologically, behaviorally and suffer from 24 distinct health issues

A first-of-its-kind study, involving over 25,000 children, reveals that masks are harming schoolchildren in many physical and psychological ways and have a negative effect on their behavior, focus and interest in learning. These negative effects are censored from social media, under-reported by the media, and ignored by government officials. Of the 25,930 children studied, the database includes at least 17,854 health complaints submitted by parents. These health issues and impairments were observed in approximately 68 percent of masked schoolchildren who were forced to wear a face covering for an average of four and a half hours per day.

Prolonged, forced, strict mask wearing destroys the health of children

The registry, established on October 20th, 2020, asked 363 doctors to inform parents and teachers that they can report the health impacts they are witnessing from prolonged mask use of children. The health issues were exhaustive and included irritability (60%), headache (53%), difficulty concentrating (50%), less happiness (49%), reluctance to go to school/kindergarten (44%), malaise (42%) impaired learning (38%) and drowsiness or fatigue (37%).” Nearly a third of the children sleep worse than normal, and quarter of the children had developed new fears. Hundreds of children were less cheerful, less playful and most were unusually irritable.

Even more concerning, (29.7%) had shortness of breath, (26.4%) experienced dizziness, and hundreds of children suffered from feelings of weakness, a feeling of disease, accelerated respiration, tightness in the chest, and short-term impairment of consciousness. Universal mask wearing is destroying the health of children, making their immune system more susceptible to disease. Masking of schoolchildren is a medical experiment that should be a parent’s choice and require informed consent

Around the world, fathers and mothers are losing their parental rights as asinine medical interventions are mandated on their children in the school setting. Children are being psychologically raped, as adults force them to believe that their breath is a constant source of disease transmission, that they have a moral duty to ensure that their diseased breath never infects another person. Children are being trained to fear one another, to fear the world around them, and to quiver in obedience to authority and medical fraud. Will these institutions be held liable for the physical, psychological and behavioral harm they continue to impose on children?

Teachers and counselors, who are required by law to report child abuse, are now actively participating in the abuse of children and bullying parents to comply. Every day, authorities turn a blind eye to the psychological harm they impose on children with mandatory masking of each child’s mouth and nose. What else can be forced onto children under the guise of keeping everyone “safe?”

Masking of schoolchildren is a medical experiment. Mask manufacturers have not conducted independent studies for long term use of their products on adolescents. Therefore, parents are not given informed consent so they can make a choice that is best for their child. In most cases, the schools are dictating what parents must do to their child’s body, setting unlawful precedent that tramples on the medical privacy rights of the family while perpetuating institutional abuse of children that is liability-free.

“There are no manufacturer-independent studies on the use of masks for children and adolescents that are certified as medical products for occupational safety in professional applications,” the study authors stated. “In addition, due to the unknown materials used, there are no findings on the potential protective effects or side effects of the often home-made ‘everyday masks’ worn by the majority of children. In view of the ongoing measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, and in particular the varying obligations for children and adolescents to wear masks in school over a longer period of time, there is an urgent need for research.”
