Thing with this is, Fox &c as we know them today are not FCC licensedthis is the whole problem with cable/sat news. They're private companies who make up ridiculous bullshit and then contract with other private companies (cable/sat providers) to push said bullshit out into the world through infrastructure that they themselves own, which is for the most part unregulated. Which is as it should be, but is also is how we got to the awful place we are today. MSM might get dinged by the FCC for pushing crap with their broadcast properties, but the fact is no one watches broadcast TV anymore except for us (right on, Caleb) and poor old peoplenormies get everything through cable/sat/streaming, which is the wild west as far as truth enforcement by the FCC is concerned. And most people are unable to understand the distinction between those two worlds, which leads most of them to assume that anything on the TV must be regulated and pure.

Barring Insurrection Act-type stuff, or molasses-slow libel suits, there is nothing that can be legally done about the lies of cable/sat news. Steele should know that.

Radio is radio–spend some time learning the basics of electronics, and you can make something equivalent out of spare parts from the garbage. Or even out of wax paper, aluminum foil, and shiny rocks. I've got all the time in the world, but that isn't the point.

What you really want is ham gear from the 90's–as compact as your Baofeng, but uncompromised. Maybe digital, but free of God-knows-what microcontroller backdoors the chink stuff has. Easy to find on ebay. Same price, same time invested.

If you can't do so for whatever reason, then you go homebrew. There's about a million schematics out there to build a rig to operate on any band you want, and the parts cost pennies.
