When you understand that POTUS doing nothing is actually what is giving him the lawful high ground for the military to act, you will be a lot more comfy.
This has to be this way, legally, in order for the military to have legal jurisdiction. IF POTUS were to act, not only would it be outside of the scope of the law, but it would bar the military from lawfully stepping in.
