I think that is part of the idea, they will try to use 'the galactic federation' as a means of control. Unite under global communism and then the aliens will dare to speak to us.
However, I doubt this is actually what 'the real aliens' want. There is certainly something going on up/out there, but I doubt it has to do with communism/socialism.
I agree, but my current assessment is that it's time for war. Perhaps that makes me dumb and acting on lizard brain - but I will tell you right now that our government is gone and is illegitimate. It will never, again, be back in the hands of the public without effective applications of force.
Sitting back and trusting a plan is, at best, going to keep people from losing hope in better times and maybe from turning on each other, but we already see this, with "zomg, we aint the radicals, punish them!"
That is exactly how you destroy opposition. Inch by inch. Group by group. Person by person. "How horrible, what they were trying to do!"
So, I will wait somewhat patiently to confirm what is going on, but I will not stand by as we are whittled down bit by bit.
Again, there is more going on than you are aware of. With that said, you are not wrong in that the governments are involved in creating and controlling the perception of ETs.
