President John F. Kennedy requested that Speaker Pelosi’s father, Thomas D’Alesandro Jr. be investigated by the FBI for his connections to organized crime. The related FBI documents were quietly released on January 6th.

On January 6th the FBI quietly released documents related to Nancy Pelosi’s father. Thomas D’Alesandro Jr was investigated by the FBI in 1961 per a request from President John F. Kennedy. The documents released on the 6th provide evidence that Pelosi’s father was investigated by the FBI based on Kennedy’s concerns. The results of the investigation were provided to Kennedy and his brother Bobby, the Attorney General.

The basis of the investigation was likely due to allegations that Pelosi’s father was connected to organized crime. The sources of the allegations who were still living in 1961 stated the information was based on hearsay and rumor.

Google Pausing All Political Ads, Airbnb Canceling All DC Reservations This Week

Google has informed its advertising partners that beginning Jan. 14, its platforms will block all political ads, as well as any related to the Capitol insurrection, "following the unprecedented events of the past week and ahead of the upcoming presidential inauguration," Axios reports citing an internal email.

Advertisers won’t be able to run any political ads or ads ”referencing candidates, the election, its outcome, the upcoming presidential inauguration, the ongoing presidential impeachment process, violence at the U.S. Capitol, or future planned protests on these topics,” according to the email, which also said that "there will not be any carveouts in this policy for news or merchandise advertisers."

The ban applies to ads running through Google’s ad tech platforms including Google Ads, DV360, YouTube, and AdX Authorized Buyer.

The company said it will be “extremely vigilant” about enforcing its Dangerous and Derogatory Content policy, and added that it will "carefully examine a number of factors before deciding to lift this policy for advertisers," but that the current plan is to keep this policy in place until at least Jan. 21, after inauguration.

Google's announcement is in line with a broader strategy that the tech giant has been using for years to prevent confusion around sensitive events. In March and early April, it implemented a temporary ban on advertising with COVID-19-related terms to stop confusion from spreading around fake goods or price-gouging related to the pandemic.

Separately, Airbnb announced on Wednesday morning that it will cancel reservations in DC area during inauguration week, saying that the company has "identified numerous individuals who are either associated with known hate groups or otherwise involved in the criminal activity at the Capitol … they have been banned from Airbnb’s platform."

Today, in response to various local, state and federal officials asking people not to travel to Washington, D.C., we are announcing that Airbnb will cancel reservations in the Washington, D.C. metro area during the Inauguration week. AOC says committee being discussed to ‘REIN IN MEDIA environment’ and prevent ‘false information’ spreading

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is promoting a congressional committee to combat “false information” from being pushed by the media following the riot at the US Capitol, where the lawmaker claims she feared for her life.

During an Instagram livestream on Tuesday night, Ocasio-Cortez at one point answered a question from a viewer asking if there were discussions in Congress for “truth and reconciliation or media literacy initiatives,” and she confirmed there are.

“I do think that several members of Congress, in some of my discussions, have brought up media literacy because that is a part of what happened here and we’re going to have to figure out how we rein in our media environment so that you can’t just spew disinformation, and misinformation,” the congresswoman said.

The ‘Squad’ member added that she and other lawmakers are “looking into” this vague committee idea because “it’s one thing to have differentiating opinions but it’s another thing entirely to just say things that are false.”

Ocasio-Cortez did not detail how such a committee would go about policing speech in the media or what powers over speech she believes Congress actually has.

“False information” regarding election fraud, Ocasio-Cortez believes, is partly to blame for the storming of the US Capitol last week.

The New York Democrat also described her experience during the Capitol riot during her lengthy Instagram discussion, claiming she thought she would die and also saying she was fearful that “white supremacist” members of Congress would turn her over to the rioters.

“I didn’t even feel safe around other members of Congress,” she said. Told at one point to shelter with other members of Congress by US Capitol Police, Ocasio-Cortez said “there were QAnon and white-supremacist sympathizers and, frankly, white-supremacist members of Congress in that extraction point who I know and who I have felt would disclose my location and would create opportunities to allow me to be hurt, kidnapped, et cetera.”

Ocasio-Cortez has called on any Republicans who have “amplified lies to undermine our democracy, encouraged an attack on our Capitol, and tried to overturn our election” to resign following events at the Capitol, specifically targeting conservative members of Congress and Trump supporters like Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Josh Hawley (R-Missouri).

Google admits experimentally blocking some Australian news sites from searches as row over paying outlets for content gains steam

Internet users can't find the latest Aussie news on searches as outlets say Google is flexing its muscles against the country's senate's proposed code that would make it pay media for news.

For days now, some internet users have been wondering why Google searches have omitted the latest updates from Sydney Morning Herald, the Daily Telegraph and other Australian news sites. Now the tech giant has admitted that it is carrying out an "experiment," tweaking its closely guarded algorithm – and only old links are being displayed.

"We're currently running a few experiments that will each reach about one percent of Google search users in Australia to measure the impacts of news businesses and Google search on each other," a spokesman for the company told the Sydney Morning Herald after it wondered why its latest news didn't feature in searches.

He said the experiment would end next month.

The Silicon Valley behemoth is currently in a battle with Aussie regulators over plans to force platforms like Google and Facebook to pay news outlets for using their content. And news outlets affected by the search omissions claim the tech giant is flexing its muscles in a fight over the prospect of paying for news.

A spokesman for Nine, the corporate owners of the Sydney Morning Herald, said Google's experiment was a move by the search engine to show "how easily they can make Australian news providers who fall out of their favor effectively disappear from the internet – a chilling illustration of their extraordinary market power."

Last year, Australia's Competition and Consumer Commission proposed a new code to make the tech giants pay for news content. That code is currently being debated by the nation's senate.

The corporate owners of the search engine are fighting the Aussie proposal and have posted a message on the launching page for Google's Australian searches expressing opposition to the code.

The code has been designed to stem the bleed of advertising money from news publishers to digital platforms and make the share of revenues more even. In 2020 in Australia, Google made $4.3 billion and cornered 53 percent of online advertising revenue. Facebook got 28 percent, and the remaining 19 percent is shared by everyone else.

Parler Switches Domain Registry to Epik Following AWS Ban

The site will not be hosted on Epik servers however

Parler has switched their domain registry to Epik, the pro-free speech company that hosts other New Tech sites such as Gab.

Parler was taken offline by Amazon Web Services on early Monday morning, after the Big Tech giant claimed that the microblogging platform could no longer stay on their servers due to posts on their site that allegedly called for violence at the Capitol Hill protests in DC last week.

Web domain search results have now confirmed that Parler has switched its domain registry over to being hosted by Epik, a domain registrar who hosts a number of domains from other New Tech sites, including Gab, Parler’s competititor in the free speech microblogging sphere, and Bitchute, the video-sharing, YouTube alternative site.

In a statement released on Monday, Epik Senior Vice President for Communications, Robert Davis, said that they had had no discussions or contact with Parler in regards to the organisation switching their registry over, and that Parler was “working on satisfying the requested terms placed upon them by various elements of their supply chain.”

Epik went on to defend Parler in the statement, and slammed the Big Tech companies who had acted to censor them had created an “undeniable double standard for both policing and enforcement” of their terms. In their lawsuit against Amazon, Parler noted that on the same day AWS cut off their hosting, “Hang Mike Pence” trended number 1 on Twitter, and no action was taken against them.

The statement also decried the media reporting on Parler and the Capitol Hill protests as blatant “propaganda… employed with the intent of controlling others,” and warned about the potential results of the ongoing “battle between oversized monopolies and smaller platforms”:

Biden Personnel Chief Served At Chinese Intel Org Flagged By FBI For Recruiting Western Spies

Thomas Zimmerman, who will serve as a Special Assistant to the President for Presidential Personnel under Joe Biden, formerly served as a visiting scholar at what the FBI has called a “front group for Chinese intelligence collection and overseas spy recruitment,” The National Pulse can reveal.

While at New York University’s Center on International Cooperation, Zimmerman also served as a fellow at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, flagged by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for its close ties to the Chinese Communist Party’s top spy agency, the Ministry of State Security.

The Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS), which the FBI views as a “front group for Chinese intelligence collection and overseas spy recruitment,” was involved in a 2019 criminal case involving a retired Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operative selling classified U.S. defense documents to China.

The operative, Kevin Mallory, was contacted by a SASS official via LinkedIn to begin the relationship that culminated in a 20-year prison sentence for Mallory.

The FBI has described the Chinese Communist Party as relying on SASS employees as “spotters and assessors” of potential Western spies. Ministry of State Security officers – described by the FBI as keen on “influencing the foreign policy of other countries” – have also “used SASS affiliation as cover identities,” according to the FBI.

A Homeland Security Today article describes Zimmerman’s association with the think tank as a “visiting scholar” focusing “on Afghanistan, Somalia, and Chinese regional policy.”

Zimmerman has also “hosted an academic salon” alongside Chinese Communist Party adviser Li Lifan on “topics concerning counter-terrorism in Afghanistan and Pakistan, security issues in Central Asia, the US perspective on the One Belt One Road initiative, and security issues in South Asia” at the Shanghai Institute of American Studies (SIAS).

SIAS is funded by the Chinese Communist Party and “provide[s] advisory services to the central government as well as local decision-makers” in China.

Also a Deputy Lead for National Security Personnel on the Biden-Harris Transition team, Zimmerman’s bio on the transition site omits any mention of his involvement with the Chinese think tank.

If Big Tech Can Ban Certain Political Views So Easily, Why is Child Porn Rife on Their Platforms?

As TFTP reported on Monday, Parler has been a haven for those who have been banned, deleted, or otherwise algorithmed into the memory hole by establishment media platforms. Users moved to Parler because the platform claimed not to censor their content and it was safe space for MAGA folks. For over a year, Parler has remained an open network where pro-Trump users largely proceeded uncensored. Until now.

Early Monday morning, Amazon took down Parler from its web-hosting service. Amazon Web Services, or AWS said Parler had violated its terms of service given its inadequate content-moderation practices for failing to remove posts glorifying the recent riot at the U.S. Capitol. Google and Apple joined in as well, ensuring that Parler is deplatformed indefinitely.

This move came on the heels of a massive purge of tens of thousands of pro-Trump folks who allegedly espoused ridiculous Qanon theories. It was bad enough that these folks were duped into following the psyop known as Q. Now, however, instead of realizing the absurdity of these ideas as they are debunked in the public arena, that is no longer an option. Now, they will grasp onto these whacky ideas as the massive monopolistic power of tech behemoths imposing their neoliberal will on them gives them justification for doing so.

Sadly, many on the left — who used to claim to stand for free speech — are now praising the collusion by big tech to censor their political enemies, completely ignoring the fact that it will inevitably turn on them whenever convenient for the establishment.

Another point comes up when seeing just how easily these companies were able to take down dissenting opinions from the web. They did so quite literally overnight and no one was able to stop them. This makes us ask the question: if big tech can so easily wipe a political view from the internet, how is it that child pornography is allowed to flourish on their platforms?

According to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, in 2019 there were nearly 17 million reported cases of online child sexual abuse material (CSAM) which contained 69.1 million CSAM related images and videos. Care to take a guess as to where 94% of all child sexual abuse material originated?

According to the SEC, it is none other than Facebook who is responsible for facilitating 94% of the child sexual abuse material reported online. Imagine that — more than 15.8 million reports stem from Facebook and its platforms, including Messenger and Instagram.

These numbers were an increase from previous years highlighting the fact that the media giant seems unconcerned about the exploitation of children. Perhaps if Facebook cared more about protecting children and less about silencing its political opposition, this increase would not be a reality.
