Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) turned the tables on Democrats in her one minute floor speech Wednesday opposing the article of impeachment against President Trump that accuses him of inciting the storming of the Capitol last Wednesday. Greene called out the Democrats for supporting the rioters who torched and looted U.S. cities last year in the George Floyd riots. But it wasn’t the substance of her remarks the media reported. She triggered the media by calling out the mass censorship by Big Tech by wearing a COVID mask emblazoned with the word “CENSORED.”

“With their continued endorsement and incitement of BLM/Antifa violence, the Democrat impeachment of President Trump sets a precedent that members of their party should be removed from office. This impeachment is based on a lie. AGAIN!”

The Trump War Room tweeted Greene’s speech noting this passage, “President Trump has held over 600 rallies in the last 4 years & none of them included assaulting police, destroying businesses or burning down cities. Democrats have spent all this time endorsing & enabling violent riots that left billions in property damage & 47 dead.”

Democrat Lawmaker Says Trump Must Be Held Accountable for the Attack ‘He Organized’

Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA), chair of the House Rules Committee, told his colleagues on Wednesday that President Trump must be held accountable for the protests that occurred at the U.S. Capitol last week because “he organized” and “incited” them.

The House of Representatives is considering articles of impeachment against Trump on Wednesday, blaming him for the chaos that descended upon the Capitol last week.

“It’s a miracle more people didn’t die,” McGovern said on the House floor, explaining that he witnessed “evil” in the eyes of those who breached the Speaker’s Lobby.

“Our country came under attack not from a foreign nation, but from within. These were not protesters. These were not patriots. These were traitors. There were domestic terrorists, Mr. Speaker, and they were acting under the orders of Donald Trump,” he claimed.

He rejected the suggestion of his GOP colleagues to move on from the “horror,” concluding that they would be failing to uphold their constitutional oaths.

“We can’t have unity without truth and without accountability. And I’m not about to be lectured by people who just voted to overturn the results of a free and fair election. America was attacked, and we must respond,” he said before placing the blame squarely on Trump.

“Even when the cause of this violence resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. … The actions of Donald Trump have called each of us to fulfill that oath today,” he said, adding that “our nation” and “freedom” are in danger every moment Trump remains in office.

“He must be held to account for the attack on our Capitol that he organized and he incited,” McGovern added.

Trump spoke to supporters at what was dubbed the “Save America” rally on Wednesday but did not organize a siege on the U.S. Capitol or encourage supporters to lawlessly storm the building. Rather, the president repeatedly called for peace as the chaos unfolded, only to be censored by Twitter and ultimately banned from the platform later in the week.

Not once on Wednesday, nor in the days leading up to the protest, did Trump encourage supporters to commit lawless acts. As the chaos unfolded at the Capitol, Trump repeatedly called for peace.

“Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!” Trump tweeted in the early afternoon, later asking “for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful.”

“No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!” he followed up, later encouraging protesters to “go home with love & in peace.”

A handful of House Republicans have come out in favor of impeaching Trump over the January 6 riots — Reps. Adam Kinzinger (IL), John Katko (NY), Fred Upton (MI), Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA), and Liz Cheney (WY).

Gab CEO Confirms Reports That Jared Kushner, Dan Scavino Blocked Trump From Joining Gab Following Twitter Ban

Pair that repeatedly bungled Trump's 2020 reelection campaign reportedly complained that Gab, Parler were not managed well enough for their liking

The CEO of Gab.com confirmed reports that had been circulating on Wednesday that President Donald Trump was browbeaten out of creating account on free speech social platforms Gab and Parler following his Twitter ban by son-in-law Jared Kushner and social media director Dan Scavino.

Torba initially reported that he was in contact with the President’s team following last week’s Twitter and Facebook purge, but the President has still not appeared on Gab or now-defunct alt-tech app Parler.

On Wednesday, reports circulated from CNN and Bloomberg that Kushner and Scavino joined forces to desperately talk the President out of establishing a presence on alt tech.

According to Bloomberg, Kushner “told other White House officials including Trump’s director of personnel, John McEntee, that the president’s social media presence should not migrate to the fringe sites.” Though Kushner alone was not enough to change President Trump’s mind, the latter ultimately gave in when Scavino joined in to trash alt tech.

Kushner and Scavino reportedly opposed a move to Gab or Parler because “they didn’t think they were well managed or could handle the traffic,” a profoundly ironic observation considering the widespread agreement from White House sources that Kushner and Scavino repeatedly bungled the President’s 2020 reelection campaign.

On Wednesday, Gab CEO confirmed the veracity of the Kushner-Scavino reports on both the official Gab twitter account and his personal Gab profile.

“We can confirm this reporting. If you want the President on Gab, bring it up with Jared Kushner,” the tweet read. “We are ready to give the President his voice back when he is. Jared is a mess. Sad!”

Domestic Terrorists Planning Inauguration Day Riots in New York - State Attorney General

The US state of New York is bracing for possible Inauguration Day riots, and has warned that it will prosecute anyone who participates, including potential domestic terrorists, state Attorney General Letitia James said in a press release on Wednesday.

"Insurrectionists and domestic terrorists are considering riots at the New York state Capitol in Albany and at state Capitols across the nation between now and next Wednesday," James said.

James said her office is working with law enforcement to ensure that the deadly January 6 insurgency in Washington DC does not take place in New York.

"We will not hesitate to take legal action against anyone who seeks to terrorize or harm legislators, Capitol staff, law enforcement, or members of the public," James stated.

The FBI earlier this week warned that right-wing extremists and others were planning armed protests in all 50 states.

US Sentences Bulgarian Owner of BitCoin-Laundering Hub

A court in the United States has sentenced a Bulgarian national for his role in a multi-million dollar cyber-fraud and money laundering racket, according to a statement from the Department of Justice.

The DoJ said in its release on Tuesday that Iossifov has now been sentenced to ten years behind bars, of which he will have to serve a minimum of 8.5 years before being eligible for release.

According to evidence presented at trial, Iossifov’s main clients were Romanian scammers who took part in an international criminal enterprise referred to by the DoJ as the Alexandria Online Auction Fraud (AOAF) network.

Iossifov helped defraud at least 900 American citizens and laundered nearly US$5 million in cryptocurrency for the scammers in less than three years. In return, he received over $184,000 in profits for processing related transactions.

During this period, the Romania-based members of the criminal organization used widely-recognised sales websites, such as eBay and Craigslist, to advertise high-cost goods, mostly vehicles, that did not actually exist.

Once victims made their purchase, local associates would receive the funds, which they would then convert into cryptocurrency and later transfer to money launderers abroad.

Iossifov was one such foreign-based money launderers who facilitated this final step in the scheme, allowing his clients to conduct cryptocurrency exchanges for cash without any documentation regarding the origin of the funds.

Two months before Iossifov was convicted, fifteen other defendants in the case pleaded guilty for their roles in the online auction fraud.

A U.S. court said then that members of the conspiracy created fictitious online accounts to post the advertisements. They also delivered invoices to the victims bearing trademarks of reputable companies and set up legitimate-seeming call centers so as to impersonate customer support.

A further three defendants named in the case remain at large.

Estonian Prime Minister Resigns Amid Graft Scandal

The prime minister of Estonia announced his immediate resignation in the early hours of Wednesday following the detention of several suspects with ties to his party as part of a corruption investigation related to real estate development in Tallinn.

Prime Minister Jüri Ratas said on Facebook that the allegations put forward by the authorities “do not mean that someone is definitely guilty, but they will inevitably cast a serious shadow over all those involved.”

“In such a situation, it only seems right that, by resigning myself, I will give the opportunity to shed light on all the circumstances and to come to terms with clarity,” he added in his post.

Among those detained are Secretary General of Ratas’ Centre Party, Mihhail Korb, as well as Kersti Kracht, an adviser to the Minister of Finance, and businessman Hillar Teder.

A spokesperson for the Centre Party - which itself was named suspect - told OCCRP in an emailed statement that Korb has similarly announced that he will resign, adding that the party will “cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies.”

Teder is accused of agreeing to donate a total of up to one million euros (US$1.2 million) for permission to construct a car park near the Porto Franco complex in Tallinn.

He is also alleged to have conspired to bribe Kracht in order to secure a 39 million euro (US$47 million) loan as part of relief measures amid the pandemic. Both are accused of a money laundering conspiracy to conceal the planned payment, in addition to further, as yet undisclosed criminal offences.

The two remaining suspects have not been named by the authorities, and are reportedly not public figures.

While the accused have as yet only been detained, authorities are reportedly pushing forward in order to secure their arrest, such that prosecutors may then be at liberty to bring charges.

Ratas has formally tendered his resignation with the office of President Kersti Kaljulaid, according to an official statement.

The scandal is already seeing gathering fallout, with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development announcing it has taken the decision not to grant a 63 million euro ($76 million) loan to the Porto Franco project.

It is not the first time the development initiative has seen questions raised concerning payments between the business community and the ruling party. In October last year, Hillar Teder responded to scrutiny over a 60,000 euro (US$73,000) donation to the Centre Party by denying the contribution had any connection with Porto Franco.
