“I was living and working in Silicon Valley at the time, and I had very close relationships inside of Facebook, Twitter, and Google, by nature of my last start-up company which was a digital advertising company,” Torba explained, adding, “I got to see the evils of their business model for many years.” The GAB CEO explained that because of the many relationships he developed within these big tech companies, he had “insider sources” who warned him that “the rise of censorship was coming and was inevitable.”

Torba shared that he witnessed the manipulation of trending topics on Facebook, “which a whistleblower from inside of Facebook leaked in May of 2016,” explaining, “And that is what really pushed me over the edge.”

“This whistleblower from Facebook admitted that they were actively suppressing conservative news, conservative topics, conservative sources, conservative stories from the trending topics product, which is used by billions of people every day as a source of news. They have since retired this process since the whistleblower came out,” he explained.

“So, that was really the impetus behind starting this. The left was saying if you don’t like, go build your own—so that’s exactly what I did,” Torba said.

When Torba was asked what he sees happening right now in America, he responded: “Free speech and the free flow of information has never been more important,” he said, adding, “What we’re seeing in America right now is the rise of Communism—plain and simple. If you study history, you can see many parallels of communist regimes that have risen up throughout history to what is happening right here in the United States of America, right now today.

Their, I guess, impetus is critical theory, which is a demonic and toxic ideology that basically destroys everything around itself.”

Torba blasted the big tech bullies for their part in the communist takeover of America, “And anybody that criticizes this uprising, this oligarchy that we’re seeing, this communist regime uprising that we’re seeing from these billionaire elites who think that they own this country, that think that they run this country, is silenced, and that includes the president, that includes the 75 million Americans who support the president.”

Torba explained that they were the first to have their apps pulled from Google and Apple. They were banned from Amazon like Parler, and they fought back by buying their own servers. Email companies have pulled their services from GAB, preventing them from communicating outside of their platform with users. The free speech network has also been banned from VISA, saying they cant’ accept credit cards on their platform, including Paypal and other financial services.

NSW's Deputy Chief Health Officer Dr Jeremy McAnulty revealed Australia has had 18 different strains of COVID-19 since November.

Of those, five are from South Africa and the remainder originated in the UK.

Fourteen people remain in special health accommodation with overseas strains of COVID-19.

"We have processes in place where there's a review of every person in the special health accommodation with COVID, to make sure they're being tested for the variants of concern and then an expert panel will assist in making sure they're not discharged prior to them being safe to be discharged," Dr McAnulty said.

Dr McAnulty said the UK strain and South African strain remain of concern.

"They're named after the country where they were first identified, but that doesn't mean they're not in many other countries as well," he said.

Nicolas Pierre Faivre, charged with sending sex message to a child on Pinterest, worked as a 000 operator

A former bishop charged with sending sexual messages to a child on Pinterest had been working as a NSW Police civilian officer, a court has been told.

A civilian NSW Police officer facing allegations that he sent sexually explicit messages to a child via Pinterest has been freed on bail.

Nicolas Pierre Faivre, 42, was arrested and charged when Australian Federal Police raided his Blue Mountains home on Monday following a tip-off from US authorities.

Mr Faivre, a triple-0 operator with the NSW Police and a former Mormon Bishop, has been charged with two counts of using a carriage service to transmit indecent communications with a person under 16 years.

Police have accused him of engaging in sexually explicit conversations with a child and if found guilty, he is facing a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

The Katoomba man was on Thursday released on 11 strict bail conditions, including that he not access the internet or social media, when he successfully applied to the Penrith Local Court.

He was granted bail by Magistrate Bree Chisholm after the police prosecution did not oppose his release.

His defence lawyer Jasmina Ceic told the court that he should be released because he needed to support his family, including his wife from whom he is separated, and was responsible for their mortgage repayments.

Ms Ceic said that he was a triple-0 operator and that he could be fired because he is facing serious criminal allegations.

“It’s likely he will lose his job and will have to look for other employment,” Ms Ceic said.

NSW Police said in a statement that Mr Faivre had been suspended from duty.

However, as bank after bank tried to upstage Goldman and threw around stimulus estimates as high as $1 trillion or even more, the market barely noticed when late this afternoon, incoming Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer reportedly "pressed" (in Bloomberg's words) Joe Biden to propose more than $1.3 trillion in spending for his initial round of Covid-19 relief.

According to Bloomberg, "the two have discussed Biden’s plans ahead of the president-elect’s announcement on his economic-rebuilding proposals… Biden is set to speak at 7:15 p.m. Thursday to outline “his vaccination and economic rescue legislative package,” his transition team said in a statement."

But if markets ignored the Schumer report, they sure as hell noticed the CNN report which hit just after 9pmET, which prompted traders to take a double take because apparently Schumer "pressed" Biden so hard to expand the next stimulus round, he literally squashed the president-elect, who is now "expected to unveil a major Covid-19 relief package on Thursday and his advisers have recently told allies in Congress to expect a price tag in the ballpark of $2 trillion," CNN reported citing two people briefed on the deliberations.

The Biden team is taking a "shoot for the moon" approach with the package, one lawmaker in close contact with them told CNN, though they added that the price tag could still change.

The proposal, which is just shy of the Democrats' demand late last year when they sought a $2.2 trillion stimulus, only to agree on a $900 billion enacted last December, "will include sizable direct payments to American families, significant state and local funding - including for coronavirus vaccine distribution and other emergency spending measures - to help those struggling during the pandemic."
