These are probably the darkest times in our nation's history. Or, perhaps, they have been the darkest times and it is only now the light of dawn is revealing that it was dark.
I think your feelings are the majority, anon. Twitter and facebook aren't real. The internet is still only used regularly by maybe 30% of the public. Social media, that is. When I talk to coworkers and people in public, the overwhelming majority share your sentiment. While that is a rather strong conservative area in the heartland, I can hardly find a person who believes Congress to be at all reasonable.
Even if the worst comes to pass in DC, it is a long way off from many of our homes and our communities. We were providing for ourselves before global transport and the internet, and we can do so, again. Whether the plan spares us or forces us to fight bitterly - these are things we will have to do ti restore our freedoms and republic.
The continent of America is a big place and we will not just disappear because the idiots told us to. Nor do I think the military and law enforcement will be as cooperative as they expect.
