I'm you guys noticed when POTUS gave his short speech last night he said:the National Guard are here to help in DC and "to help with a transition" he never said the inauguration or mentioned Biden. This was the biggest tell for me that there will either be no inauguration, or something else will be happening

Markey: We Were Within Minutes of a Capitol ‘Massacre,’ Senate Must Have Full Trial for Trump

Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “All In” that President Donald Trump will have a full trial in the Senate “for his incitement of an insurrection.”

Markey said I was very proud of the way in which the House of Representatives conducted the debate and ultimately cast the correct historical vote to impeach Donald Trump. I think that it’s the only answer that can be given. History must have recorded that there was a second indelible impeachment scarlet letter that was attached to Donald Trump and to his presidency. I think that the excellent work which they did today sets up a trial of Donald Trump for his incitement of an insurrection.”

He continued, “Clearly, last Wednesday we were within minutes, not ten minutes, five minutes, a couple of minutes of having this mob and many, as the evidence is unspooling, indicates that this could have been a plot, there could have been a well-organized effort. They came with weapons. They came with the types of devices that could have resulted in a mass hostage-taking of House and Senate members. It could have resulted in a massacre, and we were just a couple of minutes from that situation unfolding, potentially. So we don’t have a choice. We have to have a trial. And at the same time, we have to begin the work of confirming Joe Biden’s Cabinet officials, of putting his new, bold agenda for the country on the docket of the United States Senate, and we’ll have to manage the time to make sure we’re doing all of it, but accountability has to be a part of the agenda in the same way that the confirmation process and the substantive agenda of dealing with the COVID crisis, a $2,000 check for all Americans, ensuring that we begin the process of of rooting out the racial injustice which is built into every part of our American society. We have to do it all. We don’t have a choice.”

China Declares Its 50-Percent Effective Coronavirus Vaccine Candidate ‘Good Enough’

Nothing says we love you like the vaccine is good enough

China’s state-run Global Times on Wednesday put the happiest possible spin on a dismaying Brazilian study that showed China’s Sinovac vaccine candidate for the Chinese coronavirus is only 50 percent effective.

Even though the results were far below the 80 percent effectiveness originally claimed — and that, in turn, was far below the estimates for vaccines like the one made by Pfizer — the Global Times declared it was “good enough.”

Sao Paulo-based Instituto Butantan, the research institute developing the Sinovac product for distribution in Brazil, announced last week that clinical tests showed it to be 78 percent effective overall. On Tuesday, the institute revealed at a press conference that late-stage trials involving over 12,000 volunteers showed it was only 50.38 percent effective overall, although the Brazilian researchers said it was much more effective at treating “severe” cases of Chinese coronavirus than mild infections.

“This is an efficient vaccine. We have a vaccine that is able to control the pandemic through this expected effect, which is the decrease in the disease’s intensity,” insisted chief researcher Ricardo Palacios of Instituto Butantan at a press conference Tuesday.

Voice of America News (VOA) noted the Brazilian government is under tremendous pressure to bring a vaccine into play after a series of delays, while neighbors like Chile and Argentina have already launched vaccination campaigns using Pfizer’s product and Russia’s Sputnik V, respectively.

“Last week, Bolsonaro’s government closed an exclusive deal with Instituto Butantan for 100 million doses to be distributed by the end of 2021. The vaccine, however, still needs the approval of the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA),” VOA reported.

The Global Times heavily touted upbeat comments from Brazilian researchers, highlighted the lack of side effects, and noted the Sinovac vaccine candidate was given higher ratings in trials conducted outside Brazil, “which is normal and shows the objectivity of clinical trials,” according to a Sinovac document.

The Chinese state media article quoted Chinese experts who explained why Sinovac is “good enough” to combat Brazil’s coronavirus epidemic:

North Dakota Bill Would Let Censored Citizens Sue Facebook, Twitter

A proposed bill from Republican state lawmakers in North Dakota could see Facebook and Twitter face lawsuits from users who have been censored on their platforms. Some experts argue the law would have no effect due to Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA), the law that enables the Big Tech Masters of the Universe to enjoy legal immunity in cases related to censorship.

Ars Technica reports that a new bill submitted by six legislators last week titled “an Act to permit civil actions against social media sites for censoring speech,” states that websites with over 1 million users would be “liable in a civil action for damages to the person whose speech is restricted, censored, or suppressed, and to any person who reasonably otherwise would have received the writing, speech, or publication.”

Compensation for censored users would include “treble damages for compensatory, consequential, and incidental damages.” Experts believe the bill would likely have no effect even if it was passed due to a conflict with federal law. Attorney Akiva Cohen wrote in a Twitter thread that the proposed law “would immediately be deemed void as preempted by Section 230 [of the Communications Decency Act],” because “federal law is supreme over state law where they conflict, and this would create an express conflict.”

Section 230 is a law enacted in 1996 that states that providers and users of computer services shall not be held liable for “any action voluntarily taken in good faith to restrict access to or availability of material that the provider or user considers to be obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing, or otherwise objectionable, whether or not such material is constitutionally protected.”

As a result, social media companies that moderate user-generated content are legally protected. North Dakota Rep. Tom Kading (R) is the lead sponsor of the North Dakota bill and has previously expressed his anger over the recent Facebook and Twitter suspensions of President Trump, stating: “It’s just wrong to ban a sitting president.”
