The U.S. Army is the main land fighting component of the United States. They combine all three components of combined arms (armored assault, air superiority, and infantry operations) to accomplish the objectives given by the Commander in Chief. The U.S. Army also has a very robust rotary wing attack and lift capability. Virtually no U.S. Army infantry platoon fights without Army attack aviation at the ready.

 

The U.S. Marine Corps is a Department of the U.S. Navy who's job is to provide the combat expeditionary force capability to the Commander in Chief. U.S. Marines are the maritime infantry of the nation, specializing in amphibious assault. They do not utilize combined arms and instead have a utilize an impressive light infantry doctrine and skillful fire support of the U.S. Navy and it's aviation assets. U.S. Marines also operate their own fixed wing fighter aircraft to support Marine infantry.

 

Both services are extremely lethal.

 

Both services train their front line combatants extremely well.

 

Both services have an ethos based around self action and low level leadership, encouraging NCOs and even basic infantrymen to think outside the box and dynamically.

 

Both services have the ability to call upon the mind boggling firepower of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. Both of whom possess nuclear arms.
