Gerbil is a long and winding road, Anon.
It started during the Comms Administration when a group of Anons created the warroom to excecute Q's mostly social media suggestions.
Gerbil wound up running the place somehow (others can fill in the blanks) and ran most of the Anons off in disgust.
Then he buttered up / hassled (or was a part of them in the first place) Comms into getting his shit put in the dough.
The Great Anon Civil War that booted Comms out came along and decided to boot Gerbil's shit from the dough.
Since then it's been a constant struggle of Gerbil putting it back in and Anons taking it back out.
