Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, President-elect Joe Biden's pick to serve as secretary of labor, gave millions of dollars to girlfriend Lorrie Higgins's employer, campaign filings showed.
Walsh's mayoral campaign funneled close to $1.2 million to LB Strategies, where Higgins is employed as a fundraising consultant, according to the filings. The transactions were originally reported in March 2019.
The payments, which have increased in size to $14,650 per month, amount to more than half of the company's political business since 2013, according to Fox News, which cited campaign filings.
Megan Costello, a Walsh spokesperson, told the Boston Globe in 2019 that the small operation, including owner Laurie Bosio, is tasked with scheduling, managing, and attending his fundraisers, among other duties.

WEYMOUTH, Mass. —
The man shot and killed by police in Weymouth on Monday was the father of Boston Mayor Marty Walsh's longtime girlfriend's daughter, the mayor confirmed to NewsCenter 5's Janet Wu.
Lorrie Higgins was in high school when she learned she was pregnant by Paul J. Campbell, seven years her senior. She gave birth to a daughter, Lauren.
Campbell was not part of Higgins' life, but Higgins told the Boston Globe in 2014 that his parents were "very, very good to Lauren and me both."
"It's very sad and it's a private family matter," Walsh said when asked about Campbell's death.
"This is an ongoing investigation and it is not my place to speculate on why or how this happened," Walsh said.
The Norfolk County district attorney said Campbell, 49, was killed by Weymouth police shortly after 1 a.m. Monday after killing his mother, 72-year-old Patricia Campbell.
Police said when they arrived, they found an agitated Campbell with several knives, and the body of his mother with stab wounds on the front steps.
"The two officers appeared to make a simultaneous decision that the use of force was necessary and they both discharged their weapons," Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey said.
Campbell was an actor who had small parts in the movies "The Fighter," "Ted" and "American Hustle."
