L Brands shareholder files lawsuit against Wexner, board over sexual climate at company
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Lex Wexner is no longer at the helm of L Brands. Accused sexual abuser Jeffery Epstein is dead. Epstein’s partner and alleged co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell is behind bars.
But all three are mentioned in the latest lawsuit against the company over accusations of a sexual climate that was not addressed at the fashion retailer.
The lawsuit was filed by a shareholder of the company in the state of Delaware.
She is suing past and present board members of the company by name, and that includes some big Columbus names. Among them: Wexner’s wife Abigail; former OSU president E. Gordon Gee; and Huntington Bank president Steve Steinour.
The lawsuit claimed former marketing chief Edward Razek sexually harassed models and executives and that despite “numerous complaints made to the Company’s Human Resources Department about defendant Razek’s widely-known misconduct, neither Les Wexner nor any member of the Board” addressed it.
The lawsuit further claims Abigail Wexner was aware of the alleged abuse of one woman at a home on the Wexner’s property, accusing “… Abigail Wexner of acquiescence while Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell sexually assaulted (the victim) in the New Albany compound”
In the past, the Wexners have denied even knowing the woman alleging the sexual abuse and have denied knowing what Epstein was doing. Emails seeking comment from L Brands were not returned today.
