Anybody keeping a list of government collapses?

Consider a crack in the government of ONTARIO Canada. This could be first sign of instability of the majority government run by DOUG FORD as his cabinent and his caucus reportedly includes dissenters re the ever-increasingly severe LOCKDOWN restrictions.

Read between the lines. Monitor the public's reaction to FORD throwing MPP out for mildly-voiced dissent.

"While Doug [FORD] only cares about re-election, lockdowns are killing more than saving," Baber said in response to ouster.

ONTARIO is largest province and includes the capitol city of OTTAWA. Ford is leader of the PROGRESSIVE Conservative Party and has been very tight with the federal LIBERAL Party government of JUSTYTRUDEAU re the RONA crisis-what-crisis.

MORE on the dissent in FORD's government.

And Lilley explains the connundrum of a scared population at the mercy of the politicians running the asylum.

If you're against lockdowns, present a realistic alternative. MPP booted from PC caucus failed to do so.

https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-if-youre-against-lockdowns-present-a-realistic-alternative

Basically, Baber wants the lockdowns to end now, which means adopting the model used by places like Florida or Sweden, and that is a non-starter with the Ontario public. You also won’t find an elected leader who would adopt these policies.

Just imagine the slogan: “Ontario, now with three times the COVID deaths!”

The problem is political. It is not a public health emergency problem. Lilley has got it wrong on the substance but prolly, sadly, right on the political optics.

So all that is needed is a shift in those optics. The dissenter that FORD kicked out of his government has pointed at how that shift will occur. THE DEATHS from government-controlled lockdown restrictions will far exceed the deaths attributed to RONA.

Just consider the backlog on cancer-related health issues. The cancer-fighting system will be overwhelmed for the sake of FORD supposedly trying to prevent the Hosptials from being overwhelmed by RONA, which there is no chance of now. SO MORE DEATHS AND AN OVERWHELMED SYSTEM that deals with cancer. This is going to cost politicians their standing.

BUT it is one Hell of a price to pay to shift the optics.

THE cracks in the ONTARIO government will lead to cracks in other governments across the country. This lockdown mentality cannot be sustained against the rising costs of those severe restrictions on every aspect of life in CANADA.

Read BABER's letter of dissent and you will discern the fissures that will lead to the huge change in political optics. If past is a basis for predicting the future, consider that usually some unrelated scandal will tip the scale and unleash many dissenters who will react harshly to the Leader who has held things together in his cabinet only through the sheer force of the heavy-handed policies that depended utterly on 'no alternatives'.

Gonna happen.

The problem that LILLEY points out is that political optics is being mesured by surveys that are suspect. ALSO that the death rate has become the touchstone when comparing other jurisdictions. But IT IS NOT THE LOCKDOWN vs no LOCKDOWN comparison that is the key. There are places which had severe cold/flue seasons 2-3 years ago and are doing much better more recently as a result of greater immunity to RONA viruses. Populations are not static and not really comparable as apples to apples.

So the death rate within each jurisdiction ought to be compared year-to-year and the differenc ein 'excess deaths' used as a touchstone. Trobules exist no matter how this gets sliced and diced coz statistics confuse the hell out of people. Including the politicians.

So when the real-life costs of the restrictions are measured more in-your-face by deaths and suffering re CANCER and the healthcare system is buried in the backlog, then, movement will happen as THAT will become the new MSM FEEDING FRENZY.

And with the backlogs, and the suppressive mood created by the LOCKDOWNS, there will be a huge increase in suicides by people waiting - seemingly endlessly - for cancer-related services out of the swamped healthcare system. One horrible trend will feed the other. AND THAT will be a government-induced health crisis.

One could almost argue that the RONA crisis was about politicians avoiding blame for RONA deaths. But who can really put such deaths at the feet of politicvians who are pretty much powerless to stop cold and flue bugs? They are dependant on appearances only.

On the other hand, the politicos control the levers and the self-destruct buttons of their government-created LOCKDOWNS and so have no where to hide from the cost of those lockdowns.

Ford is doomed. As is any government that clings to severe restrictions on the citizens. In Canada, those lockdowns are unconstitutional and have been useless against RONA spread and the rest.
