Feb 2017 - McCain traveled secretly to Kobani, which sits along the Syria-Turkey border east of Bab-Al-Salam in the general area of Aleppo. It has been controlled by Kurdish forces since 2012. He met with US military members and Kurdish fighters.

April 13, 2018 – US missile strike against three Syrian targets. Missiles were said to have struck in Hom and Barzeh, both in the Damascus general area (that makes 2 out of 3). The strike was in response to a gas attack in Duma in the Damascus region of southern Syria. POTUS tweeted thank you to UK and France for their assistance.
