Serious question for military fags or those with mil knowledge.
Has it ever happened to you to get deployed to destination X for reason Y, and at the last minute be told - "ok mission is kicking off, but fuck reason Y, we're actually here for reason Z?"
It would seem like it would fuck your mindset. Like psyching yourself up to play a football game for a week and just before kickoff, you get told "nah, actually, we're playing water polo."
As much as I believe (or perhaps want to believe) the military is there to arrest traitors and scumbags, is it feasible to tell all the soldiers say the day of, "plans changed, boys! We're not here to protect these fuckers, we're here to round them up!" I so want it to happen, but how does something like that work?
