Soliders from the modern 10th Mountain Division, which was reactivated at Fort Drum in 1985, are designed for rapid mobility to respond to crises both in the U.S. and worldwide. Troops have deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, as well as to U.S. disasters like Superstorm Sandy.

Prior to Sunday's North Country visit, Pence and the Second Lady visited troops at Naval Air Station Lemoore in California Saturday.
