One thing I've had some success with is reminding people about the reporting on an event they've personally been involved with, say the March for Life. And how the reporting on that is so obviously skewed, with thousands of participants being reduced to hundreds, and all the focus being on the handful of disrupters.
Then say, "Imagine they're like that on pretty much every issue they report on," and leave it at that.
Just plant a seed.
