> Its now getting down to the point where as soon as someone starts talking to me I try to identify what narrative they are pushing (even if they don't mean to).

Growing up, it was always interesting seeing people take sides on issues and debate their "understanding" in order to "win" arguments. It's become very apparent to adult me that persuasion is what wins, and facts/logic are secondary.

My buddy still believes, 100%, that DJT is either:

  1. A kiddie diddler that is helping his friends escape justice.

  2. Possibly isn't a kiddie diddler, but is helping his friends escape justice.

This guy is smart. He's 140+ smart. The weird thing is, so are some of my other friends, and they all hate Trump with everything they have. They don't understand why he's such a narcissist, or unable to hire people in gov't positions that could amount to jack or shit. They think his administration horribly fumbled the COVID ball, and Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway were two of the stupidest hires of all time.

Sharing any info with any of them over the last few years has been a constant back and forth over who's sources are more correct and who's version of "what next" seems to pan out with the most certainty. We can't talk politics at all anymore, and the unfortunate part of it is most conversations we have over the decades is either movies, tv shows, gaming, or politics; all of which usually ends up in politics at some point.

It's going to be very interesting to see how things move forward. If we don't get a really good show at the end of this, I'm afraid they are going to think I completely lost my mind. If we do get a really good show at the end of this, I'm afraid they are going to lose their minds and think Trump forced a coup on our (already lost) Republic.
