I have been trying to tell people this for 15 years. Had the US been on a gold standard as Kennedy wanted. Instead we were sold the idea of "inflation" that it was normal, and cyclical, with cost of living increases. Nearly everyone I spoke to couldn't wrap their mind around it.
As Americans with our standard of living, being the worlds number one super power. A person earning $55,000 a year would actually be making $15,840,000 a year, if the US did what Kennedy want done.
