(Reuters) - Twitter Inc, on Sunday, locked the account of Republican U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a political newcomer known for promoting the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory.

The social media platform suspended her account after the newly elected Georgia congresswoman sparred with a state election official over baseless voter fraud allegations.

Greene’s account “has been temporarily locked out for multiple violations” of Twitter’s ‘civic integrity policy’, a company representative said in an emailed statement.

Greene accused Twitter of suppressing conservative political voices. “The borderline monopolistic stranglehold a few Big Tech companies have on the American political discourse is out of control,” she said in a statement.

Greene promoted online conspiracy theory QAnon in a 2017 video but later backtracked, saying it was not part of her campaign. She won a House seat in conservative rural northwest Georgia after her Democratic opponent dropped out.

QAnon backers have pushed conspiracies on social media that include the baseless claim that U.S. President Donald Trump secretly is fighting a cabal of child-sex predators, among them prominent Democrats, figures in Hollywood and “deep state” allies.

Twitter suspended tens of thousands of accounts primarily dedicated to sharing QAnon content after the violence in Washington earlier this month when supporters of Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol.

The attack on the Capitol by Trump supporters delayed certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory by several hours that day, as lawmakers were forced to flee to seek safety from the angry mob who had overwhelmed security forces.

Five people died in the violence including one Capitol Police officer.

After the attack, Twitter removed Trump’s account, which had 88 million followers, due to the risk of further violence.

Trump, who has challenged the validity of Biden’s victory without producing evidence, initially praised his supporters but later condemned the violence.

The spiritual advisor for both Barack Obama and George W. Bush during their time as President has been sentenced to six years for his role in a multi-million dollar investment fraud scheme.

Kirbyjon H. Caldwell, 67, was sentenced by US District Judge S. Maurice Hicks on Wednesday in Shreveport, Louisiana where he and his co-defendant, Gregory Alan Smith, were indicted in 2018.

Caldwell was formerly the Senior Pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church, a mega-church in his native Houston, Texas, which has around 14,000 members, the Associated Press reported.

According to the New York Times, he spoke at the 2000 Republican National Convention, delivered the benediction at Bush's 2005 inauguration, and officiated his daughter Jenna's wedding in 2008.

Caldwell supported Obama's 2008 presidential run and was part of a group of Christian pastors who would pray with him as well as being on his healthy fatherhood and family task force, the NYT added.

Through Smith, a 55-year-old, Shreveport-based investment advisor, he began using his influence to persuade people to invest in historical Chinese bonds in early 2013, the Associated Press added.

They were told that they would gain partial bond ownership and would very quickly receive large returns on their investments.

However, the bonds were historical Chinese ones, issued by the former Republic of China before it lost power to the communist government in 1949.

The bonds aren't recognized by China's current government and have no investment value whatsoever. In fact, they are considered to be collectibles by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Between 2013 and 2014, they made $3.5 million from the scheme. The profits were divided between Caldwell, Smith, and others. The former pastor received $900,000 which he used to maintain his lifestyle and pay down credit cards and mortgages.

In a statement provided by the Department of Justice, Acting US Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook said: "The defendants in this case abused the trust that the victims had placed in them."

"This defendant used his status as the pastor of a mega-church to help convince the many victim investors that they were making a legitimate investment but instead he took their hard-earned money from them and used it for his own personal gain," he continued.

Caldwell was ordered to report to the Bureau of Prisons on June 22, 2021, for conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Caldwell was also ordered to pay $3,588,500 restitution and a $125,000 fine while his co-defendant, Gregory Alan Smith, was sentenced to six years in prison in November.

Media reports said he had died after being diagnosed four weeks ago with Covid-19 in prison, where he was serving a 19 years-to-life sentence for the murder of the actor Lana Clarkson.

But the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation only confirmed he had died “of natural causes at 6.35pm on Saturday 16 January 2021, at an outside hospital. His official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner in the San Joaquin county sheriff’s office.”

https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/celebrity/jamie-lynn-spears-blames-elon-musk-and-tesla-for-killing-her-cats/ar-BB1cPGyy?ocid=anaheim-ntp-feeds

The actress, singer and sister of Britney Spears said in a since-deleted Instagram video that her cats were run over by a Tesla they never heard coming. Teslas, like other electric cars, run quieter than vehicles with gas-powered engines.

"We have now lost — I don't want to tell you how many cats — because they don't hear the Tesla crank and unfortunate things happen and it's really devastating and tragic for everyone involved," she said in her Instagram post, according to multiple news reports that preserved the video.

"Elon Musk, let's figure this out," she said. "You owe me a couple cats."

Spears recommended that Teslas emit noises that bother animals so they move out of the way. She suggested that this update would ensure that animals "aren't caught off guard and things don't end in a very tragic way."

As it turns out – Teslas and other electric cars are required to do this, as of September 2020. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now requires electric cars to emit sounds of at least 43 decibels when they're traveling at speeds less than 18.6 miles per hour. That's about the level of noise your dishwasher makes.

"This standard will help to ensure that blind, visually impaired, and other pedestrians are able to detect and recognize nearby hybrid and electric vehicles," NHTSA said in its order.

Europe has similar requirements: As of July 2019, all new models of electric and hybrid vehicles developed and sold in the European Union must come equipped with an acoustic sound system.

Spears later walked back her initial post in another Instagram post – which she also deleted. She said she "did not run over any cats" and Tesla is "not to be blamed," several news outlets reported. The actress also made it clear that "user error is admittedly involved."

Tesla did not immediately respond to CNN Business' request for comment.
