The name of the game in supply chain for the past 30+ years has been lowering cost and leaning out the fat from the supply chain. Nearly all of this is optimized on a COST basis because of the pressure from the Street and Execs at the copmanies to "hit the numbers" for fiscal year projections.This model has failed the military miserably (as evidenced by your post) and jeopordized national security - all according to (their) plan.
