President Trump nominated Thomas Homan to head Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in November but he was never confirmed by the senate

Homan announced on Monday he is retiring after 14 months as the head of ICE

He has been accused by critics of being radical and making possibly illegal changes in immigration enforcement policies and practices

Under Homan there was a 40% surge in deportation arrests, and other changes such policies on making courthouse arrests and jailing pregnant women
