John Gordon twisted those words. You don't have to obey the cops. You can refuse to speak to them or to produce identification. In the end, they have to either find a reason to detain or release you. If you feel that speaking to them will help, use caution. You are probably right … but use caution because they probably didn't approach you simply because they were lonely and looking for a friend.
