7 times … I worked at a place that made platters (actual disks); I've written assembly language disk drivers and have been buried in PC programming since 1981. What does 7 times do? Files are fragmented. Hit every fragment of the old file layout once and you've got it. It would be like saving a file 7 times under the same file name. Pointless.
