But what about the children?

CHICO, Calif. - Bibiana Lazares is a 15-year-old North State resident who wishes she could receive the COVID-19 shot.

"It is a little disappointing seeing as though I would be super willing to get the vaccine if it was available to me," said Lazares.

Anyone under the age of 16 is not eligible to receive the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.

"I am in a small group for school," said Lazares. "There is about 7 or 8 of us all together so I think the biggest thing is the fear of being exposed to any of those people because I don't really know them or trust them."

Butte County Public Health Officer Doctor Robert Bernstein said people still need to take precautions to protect this population.

"Parents of course should consider receiving the vaccination when vaccine supplies are sufficient," said Bernstein.

Bernstein said clinical trials are taking place for this age group right now with the current and developing vaccines.

He said this population that can't get vaccinated could impact herd immunity.

"Children are a part of the general population in Butte County," said Bernstein. "70 to 85 percent of the population as a whole should get vaccinated. If we think about the size of the population under the age of 18, it is probably part of that 10 to 15 percent.

Just remember every whine and professed defeat in here is reported by the enemy on social media where [most of us] have no voice to combat the lies.
