Nah, this has been done for enhanced oil recovery for quite a while. Aside from the high pressures needed to move and inject the CO2 into the formations, it's proven to be quite safe & effective.

Interesting side note, the Chevron Sacroc unit at one time had quite a few hollywood type investors, most notably Bob Hope & Bing Crosby. (sauce is experience as salesfag for that area many, many moons ago)
