With 90% of the US in counties with internet connected voting machines there is no longer a purpose to elections. If there is no reason for an election, there is no reason to have political parties, no reason to fund Democrat and Republican National Committees, etc. etc.

No elections, no representation. Just a dictatorship.

On the bright side: No need to pay representatives or senators, no need for them to have offices, staff, or slush funds to pay off the scandals, etc.

One thing to be said for communism: It's cheap! (If you don't mind genocide, camps and gulags, organ harvesting and the like)

If we get through this, I think being a public "servant" should actually be that. No pay, no political party, etc. That way they will not get to liking being "important" and will discharge their duties quickly and return home. Perhaps chosen by lot (not kidding) for a relatively short term.
