It’s because, fundamentally, collectively we are not convinced we are under threat. We feel we are. But it’s not like a burglar in the kitchen. The whole world is telling you that’s aunt esmerelda in the kitchen baking cookies but to you it sure looks like she is cooking your offspring. We are doubting ourselves. We hesitate to act. We rock back and forth in the trench wanting to go over the wall but there is no call to arms. All the kings and mighty men are gone. It’s tough but in the end, if we were victorious it would disagree with the bible. The bible doesn’t describe a situation where man gloriously sorts his shit out. It describes a situation of failure as a result of disobedience.
