I agree.
Datefagging is tempting, yet destructive. It creates a lot of false expectations, and results in massive disappointment. Datefagging is entirely human, however, and we should be careful to not be divisive ourselves when addressing it. Educate, not ridicule.
Even the most devout Christians, knowing well and fine that we will never know the day not the hour of Christ's return or of any of God's actions, have studied ad nauseam in order to predict just that.
So it happens. Does it help? No. It does need to be addressed, but we should be kind about it.
