As soon as the words about the crowd proceeding to the Capitol came out of his mouth, my heart sank. It was obvious that no good could come of it. A massive presence of Patriots in DC was enough to make a very strong statement to Congress. Proceeding to the Capitol could have no incremental value, but certainly raised the risk of uncontrollable situations developing. The fact that the breach of the Capitol had already taken place is irrelevant.

From his own life, DJT should know more about security issues than he displayed. Who the hell was advising him? The potential for hijacking the event by malign elements was ever present - shit, Antifag and others were communicating about infiltrating the gathering in disguise from the moment of its announcement. Where was the advice from those aware of this intel? Any true anon here could have foreseen the problems brewing.

And the encouragement for Patriots to muster in DC on the 6th, with the promise that it would be WILD, seemed entirely unwise unless safety could be guaranteed. An impossibility with so many contentious issues in play and with tempers elevated.

Whether this entire farrago was a failure of wisdom, or an intentional trap laid by Trump himself, remains an open question. Certainly it was a trap laid by some actors in DC. At the very least, from Trump’s position, it was crassly irresponsible and held out an opportunity for our opponents now to tar millions of patriotic ordinary Americans as “domestic terrorists.” The damage of the 6th will long endure, irrespective of the rights and wrongs of the words and actions of individual players. Trump and his advisors should have known better. The movement, and its ability to influence an already resistant DC, has likely been set back by years.
