My theory on 'expose' type pieces, like Kerouac, is tht there is a necessary falseness. you want to protect yourself from being called 'a rat'.

So my rule is that I don't base characters on real people who could be identified. Also I don't spurge about the bad behaviors of horid people, but side line as a discussion that we could have and . . . only if details are needed to make a point do I shock the readers with them.

but he knew how to write in a flowing style that captivated people.

others used that method and did a lot of great art and literature. even more others used those methods and made really horid crap..
