Apple Inc lavished cash on its shareholders like no company in history in the first three months of the year and it intends to keep doing so, making the iPhone maker's investors the clearest winners yet from last year's sweeping U.S. corporate tax cuts.
With a mountain of overseas cash suddenly freed up by the tax overhaul, Apple bought back $23.5 billion of its own stock in the March quarter, a record amount for any U.S. company, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices, and it added $100 billion to its target for future repurchases.
It also doled out another $3.2 billion in dividends and will boost them by 16 percent going forward.
The amount Apple spent buying its shares in those three months exceeded the stock market value of most companies in the S&P 500 index, including household names like Kroger Co, Best Buy Co Inc and Hershey Co.
The decision to turn over record amounts of cash to shareholders was a direct results of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed by Republican lawmakers in December.

More on the Korean leaders tree planting ceremony:
After a morning discussion session and noontime break, Moon and Kim officiated over a ritualistic tree planting that was heavy in the symbolism of Korean unity. They sprinkled the ground with soil from Paektu and Halla mountains and water from the Taedong and Han rivers, a reminder that geography is destiny. The transplanted tree itself dated to 1953, the year of the Armistice Agreement to suspend the Korean War. That year was not a self-evident choice. The historical moment of division was 1945, when US and Soviet authorities agreed to divide the peninsula at the 38th parallel. The date of political division was 1948, when Seoul declared the Republic of Korea and Pyongyang followed suit by proclaiming the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. And the Korean War—the moment when division was sealed in blood—erupted in 1950. So 1953 was a deliberate choice, one that symbolically reaffirmed a key goal of the summit of transforming the “armistice regime” into a “peace regime”.

Hmmm I doubt this very much…
The immaculate bill of health Donald Trump unveiled months before the 2016 election was dictated by the president, his former doctor dramatically revealed on Tuesday.
Dr. Harold Bornstein, who was Trump's primary physician until he took office, revealed outside his Park Avenue office: 'He dictated that whole letter. I didn't write that letter. I just made it up as I went along,' according to CNN.
The president's ex-physician compared the scheme to that of the 1996 crime drama, 'Fargo'.
The Oscar-nominated film is about a desperate and broke Minneapolis man who employs two other men to act out a staged kidnapping on his wife as way to obtain ransom from his spouse's affluent dad.
Bornstein told CNN the scheme is similar because 'it takes the truth and moves it in a different direction.'
He recalled being in the car with his wife back in December 2015 while rehearsing the letter over with then-presidential candidate. He informed Trump what was appropriate and inappropriate to say.
