Half those things are completely made up.

Study the Electromagnetic Force, and you'll soon realize that "galactic space fluff clouds" are just pockets of plasma. There are currents flowing between stars, also greater currents floating between galaxies.

If I were to subscribe to the notion of 12k cycles, I would think it would likely have to be based of a pulse in the frequency of these currents.
