Anyone paying attention to stocks?

An old customer messaged said invest in to gamestop. 20.00$

Two days later the stocks shot up and that 20.00 went to 16,000. I didn't do it of course but someone is paying someone off or doing something mischievous.

Anyone have an idea of how that person knew to invest in gamestop? Thoughts?
