IED Explosion Reported at Los Angeles Church That Was Recently Criticized for ‘Anti-LGBT’ Language by Southern Poverty Law Center

The El Monte Police Department and FBI officials are investigating an explosion and vandalism at a Los Angeles church that was recently criticized for “anti-LGBT language.”

The First Works Baptist Church is part of a network of churches that have been criticized by the far-left extremists at the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Police Chief David Reynoso said the incident took place overnight on Saturday and that they believe the explosion was from an “improvised explosive device.”

Obscenities and the words “get out” were also found spray-painted on the front of the church.

Bruce Mejia, the pastor of First Works, said that they had reported an arson threat they received on social media two weeks ago to police. A protest was also planned for the morning after the explosion, but was cancelled due to the bombing.

“The church has been the subject of criticism in the community, and a petition calling on El Monte’s mayor to recognize the church as a hate group and ‘take them out of our city,’ has received more than 15,000 signatures,” the Hill reports.

Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI’s Los Angeles field office, said that they do not currently have a suspect in custody or a motive for the attack, according to a report from the New York Times.

“We have not ruled anything out,” Eimiller said.

The Los Angeles branch of the FBI put out a public call for information about the attack on social media.

“The FBI responded overnight with @elmontepolice & @LASDHQ to an #IED attack at the First Works Baptist Church in El Monte, CA. Bomb Techs & the FBI’s Evidence Team continue to process the scene. If you have a tip about the responsible party,” the FBI posted on Twitter along with a phone number for a tip line.

Domestic terrorist Floyd Lee Corkins, who stormed the Family Research Council’s (FRC) headquarters and shot an employee who later disarmed him, admitted that he chose his target from the SPLC’s hate map list.

UK government ‘quietly’ extends local authorities’ lockdown powers in England until July 17 – media

The British government has extended the lockdown powers of local officials in England until mid-July, the Telegraph has reported. A Tory MP told the paper the change was “little noticed” at the time.

The regulation that allows local authorities to close pubs, restaurants, shops, and public spaces was due to expire last week, but it was extended earlier this month until July 17, according to a report in the Telegraph.

A Department of Health source told the paper that MPs had voted for the extension. “As we are currently in a national lockdown it was necessary to renew the regulations,” the source said, which means that the rules have been “automatically extended for another six months.”

The source added: "However, these measures are still subject to the statutory review point.”

Mark Harper, who leads the Coronavirus Recovery Group of Tory MPs, told the paper the extension of the lockdown until July “will be of great concern to those worried about their jobs and businesses.”

“Given the limited time allowed for debate, this change in the law was little noticed,” Harper said.

Tory MP Charles Walker said he hoped “this summer date is only provisional, with a spring opening being the preferred option.”

England went into its third lockdown shortly after New Year, as authorities were struggling to contain a rise in Covid-19 infections and were alarmed by the more transmissible variant of the coronavirus.

Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said China sent six J-10 fighters, four J-16s, two SU-30s, a Y-8 reconnaissance aircraft and two Y-8 anti-submarine aircrat, adding that Taiwan’s air force was sent up to respond.

"Airborne alert sorties had been tasked, radio warnings issued and air defense missile systems deployed to monitor the activity," the ministry said.

A map provided by Taiwan’s defense ministry showed that the Chinese aircraft flew over the same waters where the most recent Chinese missions have been taking place near the Pratas Islands, though still well away from mainland Taiwan.

‘On the Table’ – Pete Buttigieg Says Gasoline Tax Hike Possible

A hike in the tax on gasoline is one possible revenue burden facing American motorists, President Joe Biden’s secretary of transportation nominee Pete Buttigieg told a Senate panel on Thursday.

The revelation came after former South Bend (Indiana) Mayor Pete Buttigieg was asked by Republican Sen. Rick Scott of Florida during his confirmation hearing about possible tax hikes.

“I think all options need to be on the table,” Buttigieg said, according to Roll Call.

“As you know, the gas tax has not been increased since 1993, and it’s never been pegged to inflation, and that is one of the reasons why the current state of the Highway Trust Fund is that there’s more going out than coming in.”

HSBC ‘Colluded’ with CCP to Debank Democracy Activists: Hong Kong Watch

Multinational investment bank HSBC has “colluded” with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to debank pro-freedom campaigners in Hong Kong, says the founder of Hong Kong Watch, as the bank’s chief executive is set to be grilled by British MPs on Tuesday.

Last month, HSBC froze the accounts of a church in Hong Kong that had provided humanitarian assistance to protesters during the massive movement against the national security law, which was illegally imposed on the city by the communist dictatorship in Beijing.

Ted Hui, a former member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council, also had his bank accounts frozen after he fled the former British colony to seek political asylum in the United Kingdom.

Last week, in a remarkable move for a bank boss, chief executive of HSBC Noel Quinn personally told Mr Hui: “I regret that HSBC is not able to operate your bank and credit card accounts.”

Following the admission, Mr Quinn, alongside HSBC compliance chief Colin Bell, will be forced to give evidence to the British parliament’s foreign affairs committee on the national security law and the “recent freezing of accounts of activists”, according to The Telegraph.

In comments made to Breitbart London, the founder and chairman of Hong Kong Watch, Benedict Rogers, said: “HSBC’s collusion with the Chinese Communist Party’s repression is absolutely outrageous and should be called out clearly by the international community.”

Ted Hui has said that HSBC never questioned him about any transactions or reported any suspicious activity, but that the bank shut down his account “because the police said so”.

“The international bank has put its customer service on the pillar of shame in its political toadyism,” Mr Hui said.

The chair of the foreign affairs committee, Tom Tugendhat said that HSBC’s CEO was “clearly defending his actions by denying responsibility”.

HSBC, which stands for the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, is heavily dependent on its profits from mainland China.

After U.S. and allied warplanes destroyed a key bridge carrying 15 oil and gas pipelines in northern Iraq during the 2003 conflict there, officials in Washington and Baghdad made its postwar reconstruction a top priority. But instead of spending two months to rebuild the span over the Tigris River at an estimated cost of $5 million, they decided for security reasons to bury the pipelines beneath it, at an estimated cost more than five times greater.What ultimately happened there tells the story — in a microcosm — of a substantial chunk of the massive nine-year U.S. effort to reconstruct Iraq, the second-largest such endeavor in history (only the U.S. investment in Afghanistan has been larger).Studies conducted before the digging of the new pipelines started showed that the soil was too sandy, but neither the Army Corps of Engineers overseeing the effort nor the main contractor at the site, Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR), heeded the warning. As a result, “tens of millions of dollars [were] wasted on churning sand” without making any headway, as Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction Stuart W. Bowen Jr., described it in his recently published final report on the U.S. occupation.

By the time the digging effort was halted, and the old bridge and piping repaired — more than three years later — the bill had reached more than $100 million. “Because of the nature of the original contract, the government was unable to recover any of the money wasted on this project,” Bowen said. More than $1.5 billion in oil revenues may have been lost as a result of the delays. KBR did not respond to a request for comment.

The episode is, in short, emblematic of the contracting abuses and mismanagement that wasted at least $8 billion of the $60 billion spent by Washington on Iraq’s post-war recovery, under the guidance of what Bowen describes in his report as “adhocracy” largely controlled by the U.S. military — a structure that never “coalesced into a coherent whole” and often failed to achieve its aims.

With the U.S. military now gone from Iraq and the 10th anniversary of the invasion only days away, Bowen’s retrospective summary of his audits offers useful insights into how well the U.S. government managed its occupation and the legacy it left behind. The mostly downbeat tone is set early, when the report summarizes final interviews Bowen conducted with 44 top U.S. and Iraq officials, who addressed the simple question of whether the decade-long project left Iraq in better shape.

Most of the Americans he spoke to were rueful, noting multiple miscalculations, poor planning, disorganization in Washington, and inadequate consultation with Iraqis. James Jeffrey, the U.S. ambassador in Iraq from 2010 to 2012, told Bowen that “the U.S. reconstruction money used to build up Iraq was not effective … We didn’t get much in return.”

Only retired Army Gen. David Petraeus, who commanded U.S. forces in Iraq before shifting to Afghanistan and then briefly directing the CIA, was ebullient, claiming the effort had brought “colossal benefits to Iraq.”

Justice Department considers NOT charging up to 800 MAGA rioters who caused havoc at the Capitol 'since most of them just trespassed and were not violent'

The FBI and prosecutors at the Justice Department are debating whether to decline to charge some of the MAGA rioters who stormed the United States Capitol on January 6 in an attempt to derail President Joe Biden's certification.

There is concern among DOJ officials that bringing charges against all of the estimated 800 rioters who ransacked the Capitol building could flood the local federal courthouse in Washington, DC, with cases.

There have been internal discussions about forgoing charges against those who were not involved in any violence or vandalism but were simply trespassing or 'going along with the crowd,' The Washington Post reported.

But the Post report indicates that those talks are only in their early stages and no decisions have been made.

DOJ and FBI officials are mindful of the fact that declining to charge rioters could be perceived as the federal government condoning political violence and unlawful behavior.

Those who support bringing charges against all of the rioters argue that doing so would bring a measure of deterrence that would make others think twice about engaging in similar acts in the future, according to the Post.

But there is no denying that the workload that will inevitably accumulate by charging hundreds of people will increase the burden on DOJ and FBI agents who have already indicted more than 135 suspects.

In 2019, the DC federal courts tried about 430 criminal cases. Last year, that number fell to fewer than 300 due to the pandemic.

'There is absolute resolve from the Department of Justice to hold all who intentionally engaged in criminal acts at the Capitol accountable,' a Justice Department spokesperson told the Post.

'We have consistently made clear that we will follow the facts and evidence and charge individuals accordingly.

'We remain confident that the US District Court for Washington, DC can appropriately handle the docket related to any resulting charges.'

There appears to be unanimous agreement among Justice Department officials to bring charges against alleged extremists who are suspected of coordinating and planning violent actions inside the Capitol.

Prosecutors have indicated that they intend to bring seditious conspiracy charges to anyone who has been found to plot violent actions against the government.

QAnon enters new period of danger, opportunity

Former President Trump’s exit from office marks a new period for QAnon, and a new opportunity for those interested in stifling it.

Many of the conspiracy theory’s followers were disillusioned Wednesday when President Biden was sworn in without incident.

QAnon forums, chat rooms and message boards briefly went into disarray, as influential figures within the community had been pushing the story that Trump would interrupt the inauguration to imprison and execute his political opponents in the “Great Awakening.”

Although the prediction was by no means the first to miss the mark, some QAnon supporters were notably thrown by the news and began questioning whether they have been tricked.

This presents a window to get some members out of the community and reconnect them with their family and friends, according to experts on conspiracy theory groups.

Steven Hassan, an expert on drawing people away from cults, told The Hill that the best way to reach out to people lost to QAnon is to start simple, emphasizing empathy and kindness.

“Reach out to family and friends who have been in the Trump world, including QAnon, and start by just saying ‘Hi, how are you, I miss you,' ” he said. “Try to manage your own reactions so you don't get triggered and get angry and say hurtful things.”

Quashing the unsubstantiated theory, which posits that Trump is working to expose a shadowy group of Democratic elites that run vast child trafficking rings, will take a lot of effort, experts told The Hill.

And experts warn that the conspiracy theory is unlikely to just disappear. In fact, such theories often have staying power. And in a worrying development, some influencers in the movements had already begun this week to spin Biden’s inauguration into a success.

Many online spaces erupted with posts claiming the inauguration was all part of the plan, with explanations ranging from Biden’s oath being fake to the United States not being a real country anymore.

QAnon groups on more fringe platforms like Telegram have grown since the inauguration, Rolling Stone reported Friday, raising concerns among extremism researchers that the community is being targeted by more dangerous far-right groups.

QAnon has isolated thousands of Americans. On one subreddit, r/QAnonCasualties, family members have shared hundreds of painful stories about how the conspiracy theory has destroyed their relationships with those who have been sucked into it.

Followers of the conspiracy frequently say it has cost them personal ties and emotional damage.

Here are the executive actions Biden will take this week

Joe Biden will spend the second week of his presidency in much the same way he spent his first: signing a slew of executive actions intended to roll back certain Trump administration policies while implementing his own.

Biden this week will focus on immigration, health care, climate and other areas, with each day following a designated theme. Here are the items Biden is expected to take action on, according to a memo obtained by The Hill.

Monday: ‘Buy American’ day

Biden is expected to sign an executive order that directs agencies to strengthen requirements so that they acquire goods and services from American businesses and workers.

During the campaign, Biden pledged to make a $400 billion investment during his first term in federal purchases of products made by American workers.

He additionally pledged to tighten loopholes and waivers that allowed federal agencies to buy products produced overseas, and to crack down on false advertising surrounding products that claimed to be made in the United States.

Former President Trump signed a buy-American-and-hire-American executive order during his first months in office, which aimed to boost domestic wages while restricting the flow of certain visa-holders.

Tuesday: ‘Equity’ day

Tuesday will see Biden sign a broad range of executive orders related to racial equity.

The president is likely to establish a policing commission and reinstate Obama-era rules on the transfer of military-style equipment to local law enforcement. He is also expected to sign an executive order directing the Department of Justice to improve prison conditions and begin to eliminate the use of private prisons.

Other executive actions lined up for Tuesday include a memorandum directing agencies to strengthen engagement with Native American tribes, a memo ordering the Department of Housing and Urban Development to promote equality in housing, and an order disavowing discrimination against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

The latter issue came to the forefront early in the coronavirus pandemic, when Asian Americans said they were harassed because the virus originated in China.

Some of the executive actions Biden is likely to take Tuesday are still being finalized and could include additional measures around immigration and reversing a ban on transgender troops serving in the military.

A memo previewing Biden's expected actions for his first weeks in office also included tentative actions on voting rights and sentencing actions at the Department of Justice.

Wednesday: ‘Climate’ day

Biden will announce Wednesday plans for a U.S.-hosted leadership summit to take place on Earth Day as one of multiple actions aimed at addressing the climate crisis.

A memo outlining looming orders also signals Biden will sign an executive order that initiates a series of regulatory actions to "combat climate change domestically and elevates climate change as a national security priority," though it does not offer additional specifics.

The omnibus order will also reestablish the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, as well as a memorandum urging agencies to make decisions based on available science and evidence.

Biden on his first day in office recommitted the United States to the Paris Climate Agreement and signed an executive order revoking a key permit for the Keystone XL pipeline and halting oil and gas leasing at a wildlife refuge in Alaska.

Declassified memos detail effort to get McCabe to step aside in Russia probe over conflict

Documents show wife's ties to Democrats raised concerns of conflicts of interest dating to 2016, including discussion with Mueller.

As Robert Mueller was ramping up his Russia collusion probe in spring 2017, then-acting Director Andrew McCabe was summoned to the Justice Department for a high-level Sunday morning meeting led by then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

McCabe showed up thinking it was a "coordination and logistics issues" meeting for the new special counsel probe, but soon he found he himself was to be the subject of discussion, according to newly declassified notes that McCabe recorded of the gathering.

Rosenstein wanted McCabe to recuse himself as FBI director from the Russia probe because McCabe's wife had run for office in 2015 in Virginia as a Democrat and had accepted financial help from longtime Hillary Clinton ally and Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, the notes show.

Rosenstein "stated that he had the highest regard for my integrity, and that he had read and agreed with the memorandum written by FBI Assistant Director Patrick Kelley addressing the issue of whether or not there were any conflict issues with my involvement in the Russia investigation," McCabe wrote in his May 22, 2017 memo.

"He stated that he did not believe I had a conflict with the Russia investigation," the notes continued. "Despite this, he then stated that he thought I should consider recusing myself from the investigation. He said he was not ordering me to recuse, but merely suggesting that I consider it in order to ensure the credibility of the investigation."

At the time, news reporters (including myself) had found a photo of McCabe wearing a campaign shirt supporting his wife. He was also listed in Virginia government documents as having attended a meeting with his wife and McAuliffe discussing financial support for the campaign. McCabe has always insisted he never did anything wrong.

With Mueller present at the meeting, Rosenstein "noted that there was a photograph on the internet of us wearing campaign t-shirts," according to McCabe's memos. "He stated that this potential 'credibility issue' could cause some people to complain about my involvement in the investigation."

On 22 December, the Moroccan king received an official US-Israeli delegation led by then White House senior adviser Jared Kushner and Israeli National Security Council head Meir Ben-Shabbat. Israel to Halt Inbound and Outbound Flights to Curb Spread of COVID Variants

Israel will ban foreign airlines beginning midnight Tuesday until the end of the national lockdown, on January 31. Restrictions will also be placed on Israeli airlines

The cabinet approved Sunday the halting of inbound and outbound flights, beginning at midnight between Monday and Tuesday and lasting until January 31, in an attempt to slow the spread of novel coronavirus variants.

According to the proposal, planes of foreign airlines will not be allowed to land in Israel beginning at midnight between Monday and Tuesday until January 31, when Israel's coronavirus lockdown is meant to end. In addition, exiting the country will be limited to exceptional circumstances.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during the government meeting, "We are ahead of the entire world. No nation has done what we are about to do – we are hermetically sealing the country."

Foreign cargo planes, firefighting planes, and medical emergency flights will be exempt from the restriction on foreign incoming flights. Restrictions will also be placed on Israeli airlines,

Flights will be able to leave Israel for the purposes of overseas medical treatment, legal proceedings, family funerals or relocation. The directors-general of the health and transportation ministries will have the authority to approve exceptional requests due to humanitarian or personal needs, a joint statement from the Health Ministry and Prime Minister's Office said Sunday evening. The new regulations also apply to private planes.

Prepare for Extreme Tyranny

This is already beginning, as Biden declares "war" on domestic "terrorism." Ex-CIA Director, John Brennan, said "Biden's intel community are moving in laser-like fashion to try to uncover as much as they can about the pro-Trump insurgency that harbors religious extremists, authoritarians, fascists, bigots, racists, nativists, even libertarians."

All of these are according to Brennan, insurgents, and he and the so-called "intelligence community" seem to be salivating at the prospect of war against the American people. This is a dire threat to anyone that disagrees with or stands against the state.

Criminalizing opposition to the political class is so insanely dangerous to the people that it can only be described as a policy contrived by psychopathic and evil dictatorial monsters as a way to gain total control over society through force.

This is not an exaggeration; as what is called "domestic terrorism" is being openly discussed, and new legislation is not only being considered, but is already being implemented in some states.

Biden and some members of Congress are calling for new domestic terrorism legislation that would vastly expand the powers of the police state. This is atrocious, as it will of course be misused to stifle all forms of dissent, while labeling any that disagree with government as terrorists.

This could of course lead to a complete censorship of all protest activity, as well as most all speech. The ramifications of such draconian policies are beyond reason, and could literally destroy our ability to peacefully fight back against extreme tyranny.

The danger of this could easily lead to more violence by not only the justified victims of state tyranny, but also massive violent abuse of the citizenry by government enforcement goons in the police and military. Lunacy does not begin to describe the treacherous nature of such authoritarian measures.
