>Kanye: “slavery a choice”

Im not a fan, but his words were taken out of context. As I recall, he said ‘it feels like it was a choice.’ For many, I’m sure it was a clearer choice than for others. There was a certain degree of security by remaining in servitude, while “Free blacks” had a target on their back. Many now ignorantly condemn Jefferson and other founders for having slaves without understanding that during those times Free blacks were in far greater danger than those who lived in servitude on a plantation.

Side note: Few on Left either know or would admit it if they did that the second amendment was extremely important for the first free blacks in this country.

Obviously, the Haitians saw it as a choice and were the first to rise up against colonialism and they are still paying the price today for making that “choice.”

Most of us today “choose” to live as debt slaves and don’t even know it’s a choice.

So, I agree with Kanye.

>Full Kanye quote:

>“When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years?! That sounds like a choice.

>Allowing yourself to be mentally enslaved is a choice.

I AGREE!

I first learned about this history and importance of the 2nd amendment to newly freed slaves back in 2010 when Clarence Thomas delivered his opinion on the OTIS M c DONALD, et al ., PETITIONERS v. CITY OF CHICAGO case. As described in the WashingtonPOST article linked below, "the opinion reads like a mix of black history lesson and Black Panther Party manifesto, he goes on to say, "Militias such as the Ku Klux Klan, the Knights of the White Camellia, the White Brotherhood, the Pale Faces and the '76 Association spread terror among blacks. . . . The use of firearms for self-defense was often the only way black citizens could protect themselves from mob violence."
