Seems a bit more than a psyop. Near as I can tell, there are at least 3 components:

An experiment, using known techniques (Confirmation Bias, Selective Reinforcement, Group Crisis, Initiation Rite, …) to build a cult-like following. Current tactics include discrediting other information sources, rather than debating the merits of the evidence presented.

A training lab for chatbot AI (a/k/a "shills"), to be used on social media (see, for example, current treatment of Kanye West).

An advance warning system for (((them))). Research brought to this board (a/k/a "digging") exposes open-source intel that may indicate lines of prosecutorial inquiry.
There may be others I've missed. I've only been watching this since late October '17.
