U.S. Coast Guard searching waters off Port Angeles for reported downed aircraft

The United States Coast Guard and Canadian Coast Guard are searching waters near Port Angeles Tuesday evening for reports of a downed aircraft.

The Coast Guard reported its first call at about 5 p.m. for a plane down in the water. Authorities have no info on the plane, pilot or the number of people on board.

A small boat, cutter ship and a chopper are searching the area, authorities said.

The Canadian Coast Guard is assisting emergency crews.
