San Francisco Mayor London Breed blasts school board for having a plan to rename schools by April but not a plan to reopen

"Our students are suffering, and we should be talking about getting them in classrooms, getting them mental health support, and getting them the resources they need in this challenging time."

The San Francisco school Board on Tuesday followed through with a vote to rename 44 public schools apparently controversial namesakes like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

As TheBlaze previously reported, in October San Francisco school officials on the School Names Advisory Committee created a list of 44 sites that featured buildings named for historical figures, proposing to change the names of these buildings. The committee was tasked with identifying "whether the name on a school met the criteria for renaming, which includes anyone or anything associated with slavery, genocide, colonization, exploitation and oppression, among other factors."

The criteria for a school name to be deemed "inappropriate" included: Anyone directly involved in the colonization of people; slave owners or participants in enslavement; perpetrators of genocide or slavery; those who exploit workers/people; those who directly oppressed or abused women, children, queer or transgender people; those connected to any human rights or environmental abuses; those who are known racists and/or white supremacists and/or espoused racist beliefs.

KNTV-TV reported Tuesday that the school board voted to adopt the committee's recommendations and change the names of the 44 public school buildings on the list. The names include Lowell High, Lincoln High, Washington High, Roosevelt Middle, John Muir Elementary and Feinstein Elementary.

Schools named for Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were included because those Founding Fathers were slave owners. Abraham Lincoln High School will be renamed because the nation's 16th president, who issued the Emancipation Proclamation ending slavery in the South, also ordered the executions of 38 Dakota tribe Native Americans involved in a violent conflict with white settlers in Minnesota.

Dianne Feinstein Elementary, a school named for California's sitting senior Democratic senator, made the list because as mayor of San Francisco in 1986, Feinstein reportedly replaced a vandalized Confederate flag at City Hall.

In October, San Francisco Mayor London Breed criticized the school board for moving forward with the plan to rename schools during the pandemic, calling it "offensive."

On Wednesday, the mayor issued another statement blasting schools for producing a plan to rename buildings by April but offering no plan to reopen the schools.

"I understand the significance of the name of a school, and a school's name should instill a feeling of pride in every student that walks through its doors, regardless of their race, religion, or sexual orientation," Breed said in a statement.

Apple's Blockbuster Quarter: Revenue Tops $100BN, Record China Sales, Across The Board Beats

On the back of disappointing earnings from Facebook and Netflix, AAPL stock dipped into its earnings release, but as the company's stellar results just showed this may have been a bit premature, because Tim Cook's company just reported blockbuster earnings including its first ever $100BN quarter, around in its iPhone 12 release quarter.

Q1 Rev. $111.44B, beating expectations of $103.12B, and up 21%from $91.8 billion Y/Y. This, as expected, was the company's first ever $100BN+ quarter.

Q1 EPS $1.68, beating expectations of $1.42, and up 35% Y/Y

Q1 iPhone Revenue $65.60B, beating expectations of $60.33B

Q1 Products Rev. $95.68B, beating expectations of $88.21B

Tim Cook gave some additional numbers, noting that AAPL now has an active installed base of 1.65bln devices, of which more than 1 billion iPhones; perhaps more importantly, AAPL has 620 million paid subscribers now as part of its ecosystem.

Of note: Mac sales were strong yet not strong enough to beat estimates despite soaring laptop sales which have surged during work and study from home. As Bloomberg notes, "there might be a bit of disappointment with that one". Still solid growth and a high number, and sales will likely skyrocket this year with redesigns coming to nearly the entire line.

One potential counter: as Bloomberg notes, "one of the major factors weighing on hardware sales has been global shortages of components. That might be what’s hurt Mac sales. Investors will be listening in closely on that front. Perhaps Apple’s switch to supplying itself with processors will alleviate that risk going forward?"

On the positive side, the Wearables, Home and Accessories boost is due to major updates in that line, including two new Apple Watch models, the AirPods Max headphones, and the HomePod mini. Apple went all out on accessories this past quarter

One potential negative: even in the company's record quarter - the one where the iPhone 12 was introduced - the company still can't meet its iPhone sales hit back in 2016-2017, confirming that Apple's iphone is no longer the must have accessory it once was.

Exchanges Ban Trades, Biden Administration ‘Monitoring Situation’ After Reddit Drives Wall Street Hedgefunds to Brink of Bankruptcy in Gamestop Short

Bankers are absolutely furious with the market's first populist uprising

Wall Street traders and hedgefunds are currently very upset, as the “unwashed masses” lose them billions in a short squeeze of GameStop and other stocks.

Users of the subreddit r/WallStreetBets are fighting back against the multi-billion dollar hedgefunds in a rather creative way. GameStop became one of the most shorted stocks on Wall Street last week, after a newsletter from a short seller, Andrew Left of Citron Capital, encouraged people to short the company. Gamestop had a short interest of 102% of its shares, making it one of the most shorted on the market.

To “short” a company is to bet on the price of the stock falling, in simple terms. The hedgefunds would borrow shares of the company from other investors, sell the shares on the markets at the current high price, then buy them back at the expected future low price, and return them to the investors, pocketing a profit.

In response, the users of the subreddit saw a perfect opportunity to “own” the hedgefunds, as the newsletter from Left allegedly noted some of them buying GameStop stock. By buying GameStop stock, they could initiate a “short squeeze,” sending the price of the stock up, and forcing the hedgefunds to buy more of the stock to cover themselves.

The stock was then bought enmasse, with GameStop ending up as the most traded equity on the planet on Tuesday, beating out Apple, Tesla, and Microsoft. As a result, the price skyrocketed by hundreds of percent, and one of the hedge funds, Melvin Capital Management, had to be bailed out for $2.75 billion. The stock price went even further up after Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, tweeted out “Gamestonk.”

Other stocks from “failing” companies that were targeted for shorts have also been boosted by the self-proclaimed “degenerates.” These include AMC, the cinema company who have been shut since the pandemic, BlackBerry, the makers of the popular phones from 10 years ago, and Nokia, another previous mobile phone giant.

Understandably, many on Wall Street and in the traditional financial media were very upset with the action taken on the GameStop stocks, comparing it to “cheering on hackers” defacing websites. NASDAQ’s Adena Friedman even claimed that they would halt trading on certain stocks if they match “social media chatter” with “unusual” stock activity, and a number of trading exchanges banned trades on GameStop and other stocks.

One Wall Street hedgefund trader told the New York Post that the situation was a “bloodbath,” and expressed his frustration that the “unwashed masses have figured out how to play the shorts” and beat them at their own game. “It’s f**king carnage,” he added.

Jennifer Epstein, Bloomberg’s White House reporter, asked Jen Psaki about what the Biden administration’s response to the rise in GameStop stock was, and asked if there had been “any conversations with the SEC about how to proceed.” Psaki replied by repeating that the Biden administration had appointed the first female Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, and that Yellen and the White House economic team would be “monitoring the situation.”

Slain tech CEO Fahim Saleh left behind $6M: court papers

Tech CEO and investor Fahim Saleh — who was murdered and dismembered last year — was worth $6 million when he died, according to court papers.

Saleh — who founded Nigerian motorcycle ride-sharing company Gokada in 2018 — was allegedly slain by his executive assistant, Tyrese Haspil, inside Saleh’s Lower East Side apartment on July 13, 2020.

The 33-year-old Bangladeshi-born entrepreneur didn’t leave behind a will but he was worth around $6 million, according to papers filed in Manhattan Surrogate’s Court by one of his sisters, Rifayet Saleh.

The court papers noted that Saleh’s only debt was a $1.8 million mortgage on his $2.2 million East Houston Street seventh-floor apartment.

Since Saleh died without a will and had no wife or children, under New York law his money would go to his parents — Raihana Saleh and Saleh Uddin Ahmed.

Rifayet asked the court to be quickly appointed as the administrator of Saleh’s estate so that she can access funds to continue the operations of his businesses, the court papers said.

Saleh’s “parents and siblings desperately wish to preserve and cultivate the businesses in order to fulfill the decedent’s ambitions, which were cruelty and prematurely denied to him,” the court documents said.

A judge allowed Rifayet to collect $4 million from the estate, the court filings showed.

A man who answered the phone where Rifayet lives declined to comment on her behalf.

A lawyer for the estate also declined to comment.

DC Mayor Bowser Demands Businesses “Pull Down” Boards Erected to Defend Against BLM Rioters.

Washington, DC Mayor and Chinese Communist ally Muriel Bowser is demanding the removal of security boards originally erected to protect businesses against the Black Lives Matter rioters of 2020.

In a brazen display of how the left encouraged violent riots, cost businesses billions, and supported murders across the country, Bowser is now demanding businesses expose their shop fronts.

Those who don’t, she says, need to be “reminded” by the public. She ended her tweet this afternoon with the hashtag #DCisOpen.

But DC wasn’t open during the last year of the Trump administration when Democrats incited violence across the nation, leading the deaths of police officers, members of the public, and even children.

Bowser’s political ploy paid off, and Democrats in Congress are now attempting to make her the Governor of a new state in the union: Washington, DC.

Plans for DC statehood — which would hand two more Senate seats to the Democrats in perpetuity — have been put on afterburners by the left.

Bowser’s administration partnered with the Chinese Communist Party-funded Confucius Institutes, allowing party propaganda to infiltrate district’s public schools and federal buildings.

An annual report from the Chinese, communist-run Confucius Institute U.S. Center (CIUSC) identified both Bowser’s office and D.C. public schools as partners of the organization.

The Domestic Terrorism Act Boils Down to State Prosecution of White People for False Sedition

A very horrendous bill was introduced recently in Congress called the “Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2021.” The irony of this bill title is that it is not about preventing terrorism; it is about legalizing terrorism by the state against the citizenry. It would be more appropriately titled the U.S. Government Terrorism Authorization Act of 2021.

The motivating factor for this atrocity was said to be the recent purposely staged and intentionally allowed false-flag coup at the Capitol on January 6th. The entire situation was planned in advance to assure that Biden would be the ‘selected’ president, while the members of Congress could pretend to be fearful for their lives. The police led both legitimate and criminal protesters inside the Capitol building, allowed them to remain there, all while doing nothing but brutally murdering one innocent woman. The cowardly Congress was shuttled into safe places to hide until enough pictures and video could be taken, and enough facial recognition could be gathered so that the desired Trump supporters could be gathered up and jailed while others would walk free. This was the plot and now the scene is set. The feigned ‘indignant’ Congress got everything they wanted out of this directed production.

This non-threatening Hollywood-like creation ended peacefully of course, but was made out to be another 9/11. This minor event has been called a terrifying attack, a domestic terrorism attack, a hate crime, devastating, an experience of terror by white nationalists, and heinous violent crimes; all said to have been prosecuted by homegrown domestic terrorists made up of white supremacists, and other racially and ethnically motivated violent extremists. In other words, white people!

Co-sponsor for this tyrannical bill, Democratic Representative Brad Schneider, said this in a press release on January 20:

“Following the terrifying attack on the Capitol this month, which left five dead and many injured, the entire nation has been seized by the potential threat of more terrorist attacks in Washington and around the country. Unlike after 9/11, the threat that reared its ugly head on January 6th is from domestic terror groups and extremists, often racially-motivated violent individuals. America must be vigilant to combat those radicalized to violence, and the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act gives our government the tools to identify, monitor and thwart their illegal activities. Combatting the threat of domestic terrorism and white supremacy is not a Democratic or Republican issue, not left versus right or urban versus rural. Domestic Terrorism is an American issue, a serious threat the we can and must address together,” said Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10).”

OC health care worker dies after receiving 2nd COVID-19 vaccine shot; official cause of death pending

SANTA ANA, Calif. - An Orange County health care worker has died days after receiving his second dose of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine, it was reported Tuesday.

Tim Zook, 60, worked as an X-ray technologist at South Coast Global Medical Center in Santa Ana.

On January 5, Zook posted a photo of his COVID-19 vaccination card with the caption, "Never been so excited to get a shot before. I am now fully vaccinated after receiving my 2nd Pfizer dose."

According to the Orange County Register, Zook suffered an adverse reaction within hours after the second shot was administered. His health spiraled downward and he died four days later.

The coroner has said the cause of death is inconclusive for now, and further toxicology testing will take months, the Register reported.

His family said he had high blood pressure and was slightly overweight, but other than that, he was quite healthy.

Zook's wife told the newspaper that her husband was a proponent of the vaccine and that she does not blame any pharmaceutical company.

"He believed in vaccines. I’m sure he would take that vaccine again, and he’d want the public to take it," she told the publication.

She said she believes there needs to be more research done in cases of severe reactions to the vaccines because although they are rare, they can be fatal in some cases.

"The message is, be safe, take the vaccine — but the officials need to do more research. We need to know the cause," she told the Register. "The vaccines need to be as safe as possible. Every life matters."

Zook's death has been reported to the national Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, run by the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control. The Orange County coroner's office told FOX 11 that if there is any correlation between his death and the vaccine, it will notify the OC Health Care Agency.

In a Paranoid Nation, “Treason” Is Everywhere

FBI agents across the nation are tracking down and arresting Trump supporters who walked into the US Capitol during the January 6 protest that turned into a brawl. Scores of protestors have already been charged with unlawful entry—“knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority.” The media is treating this as a heinous and self-evident offense, but my own experience at Washington protests makes me wary of treating transgressions as treason.

I roamed downtown Washington on the day before the inauguration. The city was a ghost town, and most of the stores were either boarded up or out of business. More than a dozen subway stops were barricaded shut to prevent any guys wearing furry hats with horns from suddenly appearing from underground to strike terror into the hearts of the media.

Practically the only folks on the streets were National Guard troops touting automatic weapons (mostly without ammo magazines). There were snipers on rooftops and helicopters occasionally buzzing overhead—all part of what DC mayor Muriel Bowser hailed as the “peaceful transition of power in our country.” If it had been even more “peaceful,” drones would have been blowing up manhole covers. Deploying twenty thousand troops in the nation’s capital was noncontroversial for the nation’s media, because the soldiers were supposedly protecting America against right-wing extremists.

At Farragut Square, I entered the “green zone”—the official term for the area the military locked down and the same term the US military used earlier in Baghdad. I ambled over to the edge of Lafayette Park next to the White House, scene of clashes between demonstrators and police last June and a Trump photo op that went awry. I have witnessed many rowdy protests at this park over the decades, but it was walled off with thick wire fencing. I could see the forms of soldiers on the other side of the barrier but not much else. No chance of getting even a glimpse of the White House.

I chatted with a Secret Service policeman guarding the entrance to the park. When I said I was heading toward the Mall, he replied: “You can’t go through here but if you go down to the next block—Seventeenth Street—you can walk to Constitution Avenue from there.”

I thanked the dude and made tracks. But after walking a block or two on Seventeenth, further progress was barred by a tangle of high barriers.

I saw a solitary soldier standing guard to make sure that no pickpockets carted off one of the four thousand–pound concrete jersey barriers blocking the road. He told me that if I went one block over, to Eighteenth Street, that was clear all the way to the Mall.

At Constitution Avenue, I saw that the Mall was completely barricaded. On the other side of the high fences, I saw troops patrolling with their rifles at the ready in case anyone tried to kidnap the geese in the Reflecting Pool.

Welsh police threatened to fine customers who went to a farm shop to buy their milk, telling them they should get it from a supermarket instead.

Officers turned people away from a milk vending machine set up in Berthengam, near Holywell in Flintshire, Wales, after a dairy farm noticed supermarkets struggled to meet the demand for dairy during lockdown.

The unmanned roadside machine was set up at the beginning of the year and is open 24 hours a day, providing fresh dairy milk is sold in bottles, along with flavoured milk shakes and hot chocolate.

On Monday, customers complained to owners Einion and Elliw Jones that they had been told to leave by the police, Metro reports.
